To be really bloody pissed off with Hermes?

SniffsandSneezes · 05/10/2015 20:54

So I have a medical condition which means I have to buy a specific type of bloody expensive shampoo online. I ordered some on Wednesday and in my confirmation email it said the shipping method is 'Hermes tracked- 2 days'. Right then, so it would be delivered on Friday. It actually wasn't dispatched until Thursday but seeing as I wasn't expecting to go out until about 3 on Saturday I didn't expect it to be a problem.
However, they didn't attempt delivery until 10 to 5 in the afternoon, when I wasn't there. Instead of just leaving it somewhere safe, like the post area in my building, when I went online to track the parcel I saw that it was scheduled for re-delivery today. I took today off (annual leave) so that I'd be here for it, planning to go and visit my friend and her baby once it had arrived. By 3 in the afternoon it still hadn't arrived, so I went on their online webchat (because a phone number would be far too helpful) where a robot customer service chap told me it would definitely be delivered today but could arrive any time until 8 pm! So I was basically stranded in my flat, unable to even pop to the shop in case they turned up in the 5 minutes I wasn't home.
At about half 7 I was starting to get annoyed, so I went back on the webchat where another robot customer service person told me they couldn't deliver it as the vehicle had broken down, and that my delivery will now take place tomorrow. When I'm back at work. So, the customer service idiot asked me to provide details of a safe place where it could be left... like the post area in my building.
AIBU to think that I shouldn't have to wait almost a week for two bloody bottles of medicated shampoo that were supposed to arrive within two days, that they could have just bloody left it in the post area the first time they tried to deliver it on Saturday and also, if Hermes actually gave a shit about customers, after their van broke down they'd have got everything onto another van and back out for delivery pronto?
I may be overreacting but I'm really bloody annoyed about this- I want to wash my hair FFS!!

It is annoying for you but to expect miracles from Hermes is a bit U I'm afraid! They're the cheap postage option for internet sellers and they provide an average service. I don't think they pay their delivery people all that well Sad. Did you buy from eBay? I always offer my buyers the choice between Royal Mail and Hermes so if it's really important to them they choose RM and pay the difference - could you ask if that's an option next time?

NoArmaniNoPunani · 05/10/2015 21:06

Hermes are dreadful. They usually just lob our parcels over the fence. Fine if it's not raining and there's no breakables in there.

MrsP777x · 05/10/2015 21:06

Don't get me started on Hermes!! I put a complaint in to them on Saturday for this reason:

Hello,

I am writing to you to let you know how disgusted I am with the delivery I received yesterday.

My order number is 8927248531783571, I ordered 2 items of clothing for my newborn niece and was receiving regular updates from yourselves about where my delivery was.

I live in a block of flats, I'm on the ground floor and my neighbour and friend live in the flat opposite me. She was sat out in the garden and saw one of your couriers, open the foyer doors and throw my parcel into the corridor! They didn't even step in and hand me the parcel directly or try to post it through my door, which it would have fit! It was thrown across the floor and left there. No delivery attempt was made at all. Im utterly disgusted!! What if it had been damaged or stolen? It wasn't a massive parcel so it would have fit through my letterbox or it could have been left with my neighbour had I not been in, but since it was early morning I was still at home.

I cannot believe that such disrespect and disregard was given to an item that I have paid for and have also entrusted with your company to get to me safely. Luckily my neighbour saw what happened and handed me my parcel personally. As you can see on the photo I have attached it says the parcel was delivered to my letterbox... What utter rubbish! It was thrown across the floor and left there.

Can you please advise me on what you're going to do about this? I'm not one to complain usually but I don't feel that this was right not fair.

I don't rate them at all as a delivery company at all. Bloody useless.
I would be fuming too hun and putting a massive complaint too. Xx

SniffsandSneezes · 05/10/2015 21:07

No it wasn't eBay, it was an online beauty retailer. Unfortunately Hermes was the only option... I'm not expecting miracles, I'm just expecting stuff I've paid for to arrive when I've been told it will

They left a card to say they had left it in a shed; we don't have a shed. After hunting outside we found it pushed deep into a hedge, soaking wet with rain. And they did it with the next package too. Only DD2's eagle eyes found it. A disgrace.

FanSpamTastic · 05/10/2015 22:12

You need to complain to the retailer that sold the stuff to you and tell them you won't buy from them again while they use Hermes. Until retailers see an impact on their business they will continue to use the cheapest option. Until Hermes starts losing business or incurring costs from such shit service then they won't change the way they operate. Wish Mumsnet would get Hermes head of operations in for a webchat so they could get a Mumsnet grilling!!!

KittyLovesPaintingOhYes · 05/10/2015 23:06

I'm currently complaining to my catalogue as Hermes always send an email saying 'they tried to deliver but I was out' which is total bollocks, they haven't been within a mile of the place (rural, you can't sneak up on us) always ignore the 'leave in porch' instruction I type in Every.Bloody.Time and when they do turn up just lob the package into the yard. Aaaarrrggghhh Angry

WorzelsCornyBrows · 05/10/2015 23:07

They are truly awful

Pandaremote · 05/10/2015 23:12

Why don't you just get them to deliver it to your work place instead.

SniffsandSneezes · 05/10/2015 23:15

Panda I used to, but apparently the guys in the post room got sick of being treated like an Amazon warehouse and my company clamped down on personal deliveries Sad

Unreasonablebetty · 05/10/2015 23:47

Now here's good these days,
Royal Mail lose all my letters
Hermes are crap, never deliver when they say they will
And yodel delivered to a completely different address and it took them 24 hours to send me the firstname of the person they left a parcel of mine with--- who doesn't live within five doors of me!! Still no idea what number they delivered to, but they didn't even knock at my address!!

NadiaWadia · 06/10/2015 03:25

I think it all depends on who your local Hermes courier is. I have had no problem with ours. She's very reliable, and has the sense to put the parcel over the gate if I'm not in.

Yodel, on the other hand, are dreadful. DD was moving out of her student house at the end of June, ordered some cardboard boxes from Amazon for her to pack up her stuff (we are in Amazon Prime, so it's supposed to be next day delivery). Unfortunately, Amazon chose Yodel, and they eventually turned up with the boxes 3 weeks after she'd moved out!

sleepdeprivedtigers · 06/10/2015 03:51

My parents order a lot and its regularly Hermes. Never had any bother but it is always same person and he is great. It obviously depends which you get. I think they are probably sub contracted.

divere · 06/10/2015 09:41

Feeling quite lucky after reading this - my Hermes driver is fab! He always comes at the same time so I don't have to wait in and if I see him while I'm out he calls me over to get the parcel off him!

SniffsandSneezes · 06/10/2015 18:47

Update- still not fucking here!! Back on the webchat with another robot customer service person, who just keeps repeating "Please be assure the parcel will be deliver today before 8pm" (their crap grammar, not mine)

I keep asking why, as someone whose delivery was missed yesterday due to a vehicle breakdown, I wasn't prioritised today... see above response.

That courier is gonna know all about my dissatisfaction if they every bloody show up!!

BeaLola · 06/10/2015 19:00

Sorry you have had a nightmare. My Hermes delivery lady is fab and beats my yodel, Dhl, your mail delivery drivers . It really is hit and miss who you get.

DoJo · 06/10/2015 19:05

Might be worth reading this if you want to try and pursue them further than giving them a flea in their ear...!

SniffsandSneezes · 06/10/2015 20:09

The fun continues... Went back on the webchat about half an hour/40 minutes ago and the chap just kept reiterating 'it will arrive before 8pm'

Back on the webchat at 7:58... now I'm getting 'as per tracking the parcel will be delivered tomorrow'. Me: 'why isn't it being delivered today?'
Hermes fucking useless moron: 'due to vehicle breakdown'

ARE THEY FUCKING KIDDING?!?!

OP posts:
weeblueberry · 06/10/2015 20:12

They're lying. Keep the webchats and make a complaint.

MrsP777x · 06/10/2015 20:35

I got a reply about my complaint today. Apparently hermes are going to pass on my complaint to the relevant people which is... Hermes.

Useless fucktards.

katemiddletonsothermum · 06/10/2015 21:18

I hate Hermes. I really hate Hermes.

They've lobbed a Wiiu over the fence. They've left a parcel containing clothes out in the soaking rain. When I've contacted them to complain they told me to f off and to go back to Amazon to make my complaint there.

They are not interested in anything other than driving slowly on the road, slowly over-taking other slow lorries on the A1 and generally being a pile of f shit.

Mike500 · 15/08/2021 11:24

I bought 2 items via Facebook adverts. A Mystery high value package of overstocked
electronics from. “EEBOE”, Amazon,. Sold on, purported to be delivered by Hermes on the 1st July.

The house was occupied all day in anticipation of the delivery, claimed to be at 1.40pm. No door bell was rung, no images appeared on either front CCTV cameras, and the proof of delivery was a photo of my porch, probably taken at a previous delivery that month. It was claimed the parcel was signed for, even though the door bell never got rung. Messages from EEBOE claim I may have been out when I signed for it. I have written to Hermes who will not respond. The police are too busy to act on a doorstep theft, and Action Fraud will write this off again.

The second parcel was a drill and 6 accessories, including router, plane & saw, bought on line from CHOSEDAY.COM. It never arrived. After all my complaints to Hermes, a black 4 wheel drive delivered a cheap & nasty 6 piece tool kit, mainly plastic dime store stuff. This time the arrival was checked on CCTV and saved to file

Choseday now rate as Scammers on Google, with a Trust rating of 1%.

Please don’t get caught like me, and be very wary of Hermes deliveries, Check Hermes “pissedoff” site to see 1 star rating and no reply to any Customer Service
enquiry

You can ring Hermes on a PRLS line at £6 per minute

VodkaSlimline · 15/08/2021 11:30

Why leave ordering until you'd completely run out if you need this so desperately?

YABU, and taking a day of annual leave for a shampoo delivery is insane. It's shampoo not medicine. You won't die without it. Yes Hermes are shit but presumably you could have paid for next-day delivery and chose not to.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 15/08/2021 11:39

IT'S FROM 2015!!!!!

IamMaz · 15/08/2021 11:46
