to want to cry that DH has slathered his homemade chicken and vegetable pie (that is perfectly seasoned) in mint sauce!!!!!! I really don't know why I frigging bother

BrandNewAndImproved · 30/09/2015 17:56

Well it's perfectly seasoned to your taste.

I don't understand why people get annoyed by other people making their food taste nicer to them.

I personally love chicken pie with gravy, others with mint sauce. I don't see the problem.

ThomasRichard · 30/09/2015 17:57

YANBU. Adding sauces and seasonings to a prepared dish before tasting it is very rude.

LemonPied · 30/09/2015 17:57

I would have put mayo on it...

iwantgin · 30/09/2015 17:59

I'm with you Op.

It's the same when the salt and pepper are liberally sprinkled on prior to tasting.

AdoraBell · 30/09/2015 18:00

DH, and one of the kidsHmm put fucking ketchup on poached trout last night.

Sirzy · 30/09/2015 18:00

As long as he ate and enjoyed it I don't see the problem

Spartans · 30/09/2015 18:00

God these threads are weird.

It's not your food. You eat yours like you want to, let him eat his how he wants to.

x2boys · 30/09/2015 18:03

it wouldnt bother me tbh as long as its eaten my bil will often refuse meals my dsis has made and eat a tin of beans insteadHmmnow that would piss me off.

trollkonor · 30/09/2015 18:03

I love mint sauce with chicken pie or roast chciken. I Know that i like it so I put it straight on. Despite me cooking it and herbing, spicing or seasoning food so that it will be liked by everyone in the house.

villainousbroodmare · 30/09/2015 18:06

YAB a bit U; he ate it and liked it; it's no different to adding pepper or butter or hot sauce.
Starving now Grin

ALemonyPea · 30/09/2015 18:08

I've never thought of putting mint sauce in chicken pie mmmmmmm

Theonethatgotaway772 · 30/09/2015 18:08

Does it matter he ate it and enjoyed it.

TheBunnyOfDoom · 30/09/2015 18:09

I really don't get these threads. So long as he eats it, why does it matter that he's added sauce/seasoning to it? Confused

DP loves salt on food, I don't. So he adds salt. It doesn't offend me! I'd be more offended if he salted my food for me.

Penfold007 · 30/09/2015 18:11

My DSis has mint sauce with everything, DM coats her food in a thick layer of pepper, DS has ketchup and DD has to have mustard. Can't get wound up about it.

MrsSparkles · 30/09/2015 18:26

DH puts tabasco on everything - yuck,

beardsrock · 30/09/2015 18:34

It's a nightmare. I'm seriously thinking about stopping cooking altogether.

florencerusty · 30/09/2015 18:37

It just drives me mad. Clearly my tolerance is low

OP posts:
beardsrock · 30/09/2015 18:40

Thinking about it, mint sauce is quite disgusting at the best of times but on chicken? Confused

cremedecacao · 30/09/2015 18:40

Would drive me mad too! Meals are 'designed' by the person cooking them, and no one likes to see their vision ruined! Grin All that effort put into choosing the right blends of flavours for someone to cover up all the flavours entirely!

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/09/2015 18:41

I like my food very salty. I know it's wrong and terrible Hmm. I put salt on before I taste it because if the food was made to my taste, it would be inedible to everyone else. It's a compliment.

However, DH and the fucking hot sauce.

MagicDucky · 30/09/2015 18:43

YABU, leave the poor man be! Could be worse could hate your cooking! At least he's eating it.

Oysterbabe · 30/09/2015 18:45

I put mint sauce on everything because I love it Grin
I cook though so it's OK.

Shannaratiger · 30/09/2015 18:48

I understand why you're upset. Rude and disrespectful to not eat a mouthful before putting sauce on. Equal to dc's saying they don't like something without even trying it! Angry

Quietlifenotonyournelly · 30/09/2015 18:52

I put black pepper on everything obviously not dessert and it annoys DH as I get 'pepper cough', he doesn't do the cooking btw. DD used to put tomato ketchup on everything, it horses for courses I guess.

TheStripyGruffalo · 30/09/2015 19:08

Wasn't it Terry Pratchett who described people like that as autocondimenters? Something like that anyway. YANBU even though mint sauce is yummy.
