I am an autocondimenter and proud. Grin

Me too, everything gets covered in pepper.

I love mint sauce.

What's your chicken pie recipe op?

Fluffyears · 30/09/2015 19:16

I never get the fuss, we all like different things. A colleague commented on me salting my food before tasting but I like my food salty (probably bad for me though) I was Shock as I'm a grown adult and can put what I like on my meal.

confusedandemployed · 30/09/2015 19:16

Everything is liberally sprinkled with salt and, usually, chilli sauce. I prefer food that way and will not willingly have a (to me) less enjoyable eating experience just because someone thinks they can dictate to me how they think I should eat.
I'm with the 'don't get these threads' brigade.

Crazypetlady · 30/09/2015 19:17

YABU I think you are missing the point of condiments.
I am guilty of all of the seasoning/saucing before tasting no-no's.

Cornettoninja · 30/09/2015 19:18

I'm an autocondimenter - sorry! I probably love condiments more than I like actual food Grin

Unfortunately it's a cycle, you ruin your palette eventually. I do make the effort with stuff that's extra special or when I'm out have no option but honestly, when I'm at home I want to eat something I'll really enjoy and to really enjoy it it's probably going to need a bit of help for my personal tastes.

Believe it or not if you're that hardened to it you can still appreciate the cooking underneath and pick out the flavours.

AlpacaLypse · 30/09/2015 19:22

I think it was TP who came up with autocondimenters. Or possibly MrsTerryPratchett on here Smile

OP yanbu, anyone who hurls salt or pepper or ketchup or mayo or anything else onto a meal before they've even tasted it is (a) being rude to the cook and (b) being stupid. You can always add more seasoning to a dish. You can never take it out again.

Jux · 30/09/2015 19:59

I get pissed off when dh smothers everything with salt and pepper before he's even tasted it. I do sometimes cry out "taste it fgs before you do that" but he never does. I think he expects all food to taste of seasoning exclusively. Sad

Topseyt · 30/09/2015 20:09

I don't get the big issue to be honest.

I often like to mill salt and pepper onto my food before eating it. If anyone told me not to they would get rather short shrift.

Put what you like on your food and let others do the same to theirs without criticising them. What difference does it really make in the grand scheme of things?

DH loves pie (steak, chicken, meat and potato it doesn't matter even pork pie!) with mushy peas and mint sauce, he claims that its a Yorkshire thing.
