To eat or/and drink in the bathroom?

Personally we have always done this. Last night I enjoyed a long bath with a nice chilled glass of rose. Perfect.

However in laws are around and have just made huge catbum faces about dh taking his tea into the bathroom whilst he supervises kids bath. He's sitting on a chair with a magazine and tea literally just checking the small beings don't drown themselves, not exactly with his head down the toilet. Mil has just gone in to ask if he wanted her to take tea out again ( which he didn't)

I mean I wouldn't eat my roast dinner off the toilet seat, but in general is there that much wrong with food or drink in the bathroom? It's a perfectly clean bathroom that is cleaned basically daily and then scrubbed weekly by our cleaner. In fact it's probably cleaner than living room tbh as we don't deep clean that weekly.

Do you do this?

I take a drink into the bathroom if I'm having a bath, don't see what the issue is to be honest.

Pipbin · 13/09/2015 17:17

So he is just sat in the bathroom with a cup of tea?
Do they think that poo crumbs are going to jump out of the toilet into his cuppa?
Unless you are using the loo or in the shower then I can't see it matters.

FattyNinjaOwl · 13/09/2015 17:18

I love having a cuppa in the bath

mrspremise · 13/09/2015 17:21

Grin at 'poo crumbs'...

5Foot5 · 13/09/2015 17:31

Nothing wrong with it. DH has occasionally brought me a nicely chilled fino sherry in the bath. Never thought of eating in there but I can't see there is any reason why not

Katedotness1963 · 13/09/2015 17:35

I've enjoyed a glass of wine while wallowing in a bubble bath. I don't think I could eat in the bathroom though...

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 13/09/2015 17:36

I always have wine in the bath! What's the point in a bath otherwise?!

MummaV · 13/09/2015 17:42

A cuppa and a few biscuits when I have a bath are a rare treat. No one tries to steal my biscuits or stick their fingers in my tea. its lovely.
I used to be adamantly against eating in the bathroom but it's now the only place I can get 2 minutes peace to enjoy my choccy hobnobs!

Artandco · 13/09/2015 17:44

Good, it seems to be clear enough that mil is just slightly daft in regards to this. We shall continue as before

I'll often have a brew or glass of wine/ beer in the bath and sometimes dessert! I also drink a brew whilst supervising bath time with my niece. Nothing wrong with it!

We do always flush the loo with the lid down, otherwise poo crumbs do spray in the air.

SisterNancySinatra · 13/09/2015 17:48

Just a cuppa in the morning , thank you

RonaldMcDonald · 13/09/2015 17:52

Yes if a bathroom has the toilet in another room
Otherwise no

Pipbin · 13/09/2015 17:57

Yes if a bathroom has the toilet in another room

What are you so frightened of? Shit isn't going to climb out of the toilet you know.

2rebecca · 13/09/2015 18:13

I frequently drink in the bathroom, I don't eat there much but that's because eating and having a bath don't seem compatible to me rather any terror of "germs". Some people are just weird about toilets, I suspect the less scientific knowledge you have the more you worry about "toilet germs"

HackerFucker22 · 13/09/2015 18:18

I can't be bothered to Google it but I'm pretty sure there was some study (real or embellished or completely fake I don't know) about how far poo particles can travel if you flush the loo with lid up.

We have our toilet on its own but I personally don't eat or drink in the bathroom.

Lightbulbon · 13/09/2015 18:36

Drinking a fine.

Something like chocolate (flake ad) is also fine but noting requiring cutlery.

Pengweng · 13/09/2015 18:42

I frequently drink tea wine in the bath. I no longer eat in the bath after knocking a family sized packet of skittles in and having to fish them out and then shower as i was covered in rainbow colours.

I have a weird house where the toilet isn't in the bathroom, it's just the bath and sink but i don't think it would stop me even if the loo was in there. I do clean it everyday disgusting twin toddlers mean that it's necessary so it can't be that bad.

PHANTOMnamechanger · 13/09/2015 18:46

assuming your bathroom is not absolutely minging then there is no problem.

some peoples kitchens and the insides of their fridges are utterly disgusting but they dont seem to all die off.

the mythbusters thing showed poo is everywhere anyway - every door handle, ATM, the change you get in the shop.

AmberFool · 13/09/2015 18:46

A drink in the bath is good but I can't say I've ever eaten in a bathroom.

MamaLazarou · 13/09/2015 18:48

You've got to have a nice cup of tea in the bath.

Food, though

morecoffeethanhuman · 13/09/2015 18:51

Grin bless u, id be so sad to loose a pack of skittles but the idea of being stained did make me laugh sorry!
Who on earth has a bath without a glass of wine cuppa???
I've even treated myself to some nibbles with it (crisps or nuts in a bowl balanced on the side) don't get me wrong, i don't have a poo and drink a cuppa but as long as nothing is coming out of you i wouldn't think it was weird - ur mil is the weird one!

Juniper404 · 13/09/2015 18:52

Eating nachos in the bath is also good fun (unless the plate falls in).

morecoffeethanhuman · 13/09/2015 18:56

Also - people saying food is gross but a drink is fine, honestly, what's the difference??
Either way something in my Hand and its going in my mouth - what difference does it make if I'm swallowing or chewing confused
