To think dh's best mate is a cheeky fecker?

Dh went to a funeral/wake yesterday. He didn't get home until 11.30 (Late funeral, followed by wake, entirely expected)

His mate, lets call him prick (not his real name) went to London with his gf on Tuesday, they saw a show, stayed the night, spent yesterday seeing the sights and then went to a Medieval Banquet thing last night.

At 11pm my mobile rang. I saw it was Prick, and ignored it, assuming he wanted DH.

House phone rings. Now I'm concerned so answer it, and the conversation went like this:

Prick "Hi Keith, we are at the train station 5 miles away, and haven't got any money - can you tell dh to come and get us?"

Me "No. he's at a wake. He's been drinking, so he won't be able to come and get you.

Prick "can you come then?"

Me "What? No. Dd is in bed"

Prick. "So? It'll only take you 10 minutes"

Me "NO! It is 11pm and my 4 year old is alseep"

Prick "What about if you phone Dh, tell him to come home, then he can stay in with her while you come and get us?"

Me " What goes click, Derrrrrrrr?" (Hung up)

Aibu to think if you can afford a West End Show, dinner, hotel, sightseeing, and a medieval night you should make damn sure you've got enough money to get your stupid arse home from the train station?

What a cock, what has DH said?

BastardGoDarkly · 27/08/2015 14:28

Yip, cheeky as fuck.

ShouldILTB · 27/08/2015 14:30

What an absolute cheeky fucker. What did your DH say?

CatthiefKeith · 27/08/2015 14:31

Dh just shook his head - Prick has form for being absolutely shite with money - he and his gf sail exceeding close to the wind. They don't just live month to month, sometimes it's more like day to day!

I think he is a dick.
You did the right thing.

CatthiefKeith · 27/08/2015 14:40

Ive just had a look at FB. Apparently another mate's father went and got them after they posted a begging status about being stranded, let down and finding out who their friends are Cheeky cunt.

Just Shock at this!!

yoshipoppet · 27/08/2015 14:45

Cheeky, and very rude.

CatthiefKeith · 27/08/2015 14:48

I can only assume he was very pissed. Surely nobody in their right mind would really expect me to wake up, or leave, a 4 year old to go and pick them up from a station 5 miles away at 11pm?

Icimoi · 27/08/2015 15:02

I hope you've responded to that FB status along the lines of "Yes, indeed, what friends would expect someone to get a 4 year old out of bed at 11.30 p.m. just because they were too disorganised to arrange their own transport?" If it was 5 miles away, they weren't stranded, they could and should have walked.

GudrunBrangwen · 27/08/2015 15:10

How old are they/ you?

You're not their parents FFS

defriend

bloodyteenagers · 27/08/2015 15:18

I would post - yes I agree you do find out your mates. Real mates wouldn't expect a 4 year old to be left home alone.

They weren't stranded. They just couldn't be arsed to walk.

CatthiefKeith · 27/08/2015 15:29

I am early 40's, Dh is 30. Best mate is mid 30's and his gf is around dh's age. I sincerely hope they don't view me as a surrogate parent.

Gudgren, I would love nothing more than to defriend, unfortunately I'd still see them in rl though! Grin

ExitPursuedByABear · 27/08/2015 15:36

Pants took the words right out of my mouth.

HelsBels3000 · 27/08/2015 15:40

Wow! For real? Cheeky beggars

ImperialBlether · 27/08/2015 15:42

So basically they spent every last penny on having a lovely day and didn't think about how they would get home? If they'd each had one drink fewer they could have paid for the taxi! Just ridiculous. Don't feel guilty - they are idiots.

CatthiefKeith · 27/08/2015 15:50

Here is the original status......

The rail network has declined our ticket home so we have had to pay £45 extra to get to XXX Is anyone able to give us a lift in 20 mins? Or we can't get home we are too skint. One way to find out who your mates really are Sad

DoingTheGardening · 27/08/2015 15:51

Grin at 'not his real name'!

DoingTheGardening · 27/08/2015 15:51

And Shock at that fb status!

ImperialBlether · 27/08/2015 15:57

Why did the rail network decline the ticket home? Why WOULD they do that?

Notgrumpyjustquiet · 27/08/2015 16:00

Worra facking liberty...

ShockAngrySad

Jackiebrambles · 27/08/2015 16:01

Lol at 'the rail network' ruining his travel plans. so he didn't buy the wrong ticket then or try to use it on a journey where it was invalid??

Inertia · 27/08/2015 16:01

I would be so tempted to reply that you were sorry you couldn't help them out as you were home alone with a sleeping small child while your husband was attending a funeral wake.

BumbleNova · 27/08/2015 16:02

no rail network declines tickets home... they are fibbing. cheeky and stupid.
