To ask how much your water bills are?

Sorry to be nosy, but we have recently had our water meter 'upgraded' to a smart version, which means, apparently, that the water company can drive past the house, point a device and read our meter without coming in to the house.

But our water bill has shot up.

I am of the opinion that our old meter was not working properly and that we have been undercharged for years.

DH thinks DD has started having too many baths.

Superexcited · 31/07/2015 14:53

Roughly £300 every six months. We are on a water meter.

shovetheholly · 31/07/2015 14:54

Bloody hell, I need to get onto a meter. Mine's £70 a month for two of us, and we're quite sparing with water!

MsVestibule · 31/07/2015 14:56

£70 for two??? How big is your house, holly?

Totality22 · 31/07/2015 14:56

My direct debit is for £73 quid a month. Not sure how many months if the year this is!!! Jeez that is a lot.

How much hassle is it to get a water meter out in?

Balanced12 · 31/07/2015 14:56

Mileend that's fantastic, I'm jealous Biscuit

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 31/07/2015 14:57

About £75 a month. For a single parent with 2 kids...

MsVestibule · 31/07/2015 14:57

Really easy to get a meter put in. Just phone your water company and they'll sort it out for you. You don't normally even need to be in when they do it.

TheRealAmyLee · 31/07/2015 14:57

45 a month for 5 of us (3 dcs).
Min 2 showers a day. Min 3 baths a week.
Everyone drinks water/squash.
Min 1 washer load a day.
Min 1 run of dishwasher a day.

muminthecity · 31/07/2015 14:58

Artandco · 31/07/2015 14:58

TheRealAmyLee · 31/07/2015 14:59

mrsdavidbowie · 31/07/2015 15:01

EatDessertFirst · 31/07/2015 15:03

thecatsarecrazy · 31/07/2015 15:04

Mines £70 a month Shock it was £80 but they reviewed it.

Mulligrubs · 31/07/2015 15:04

Have a decent sized house (4 bed, 3 bathroom) but it's just DP, me and 1year old DS, it is £39 per month direct debit and that covers it. That's quite good as I usually use the washing machine once a day, the dishwasher once a day, plus each have a bath or shower each day.

Northumberlandlass · 31/07/2015 15:04

No meter £33 a month Direct debit. Only DS and I in house now.

NannyFlower · 31/07/2015 15:04

Two adults who shower once a day. Dishwasher and washing machine used every day too.

£20 a month on a meter.

goodasitgets · 31/07/2015 15:05

Direct debit is £25 a month. Just me, on a meter
