To not know what to do about this wart?

I've had a wart on my finger for 5+ years. I've tried freezing it, topical wart killers, etc. With no luck. People keep recommending duct tape but I'm allergic to adhesive so that's not going to work. Help me!

Rub the top of the wart lightly with an ped egg/emery board, rub in hand sanitiser. Do it every day for a week.

Lavender Oil - has worked a treat on DS feet and its nice and cheap and helps you sleep

When the Dad at swimming suggested it to me I didn't really think it would work but bought a little bollte (£2) and all 5 verrucas have cleared up in a matter of weeks.

My old Grandma solved my Father's warts years ago. She told him to rub a piece of raw meat on the warts and then bury it. She said that as the meat shrivelled and disappeared into the soil, so would the wart.

We all thought she was crazy but Dad did it and it worked!

My DS had warts all over his hands for about 4 years, we tried the gels and home freezing etc and also the super strength gel from the GP. I bought the Wartner pen from Amazon 2 weeks ago and within 4 days the warts had mostly gone. Worth a try, it was only about £6

I have one I can't get rid of too. I swear it has its own blood supply. I can't do the Emery board also recommended as it us painful and bleeds. It's not like any I've had before

I haven't tried lavender oil yet. I'll try and pick some up today.

Apple cider vinegar. Works like a charm but can take a while and makes you smell a bit like a fish and chop shop! If you Google it there are different recommendations for different types of wart but basically, soak cotton wool in ACV and tape if over the wart with a plaster. Reapply until wart turns black and falls off. Good luck!

I second the unpasteurized apple cider vinegar. Dd1 had 3 warts on two fingers, one of which was in her cuticle, and two of which worsened with a topical treatment at docs. In the end I would rub coconut oil (could use Vaseline or olive oil) on skin around the wart to protect it, then cut a cotton swab to size, soak it in vinegar and put it over warts and cover with a plaster. Each evening we'd remove the plasters and gently rub surface of warts (not cuticle one though) to remove the softer skin. We'd then repeat the whole process. Within a week or so all warts were gone and no scarring. One thing to be aware of though so you're not alarmed, is that the warts will start to turn a bit black, but everything eventually disappears!

I can't use plasters because I'm allergic to the adhesive on them.

Could you use medical tape? Any kind of tape?

No, I can't use any tape at all. I first reacted to paper tape (surgery dressing), which is what they use for people with adhesive allergies/sensitivities! My surgeon told me to totally avoid all adhesives, including plasters, etc. because these sorts of things tend to get worse with more exposure.

Go to your GP practice!

The nurse will check that it isn't something that is 'concerning' and then either freeze and remove or refer to the doctor for lancing/removal.

A wart of longevity may need scraping over a period of time.

If it is bothering you then no amount of self-help/old wives practice is going to give you a positive result. (Says I who had a knee wart bought from me for 6d)

I got rid of my children's warts and a verruca by using Thuja 30c. Was very sceptical but it worked amazingly.

Then nothing for a week
Then 1 in morning of it being a week from the 1st tablet.

I'm allergic to adhesive, too. I've found that the brown stretchy stuff called self-adhering wrap works well without causing irritation. It doesn't stick like a bandage does; you'd have to put a cotton ball on the wart then wrap the stuff all the way around your finger. That's what they always give me at the doctor when I have bloodwork done.

Bazooka worked for my daughter but it was an effort to keep remembering to apply the stuff.

tea tree oil, neat, dabbed on and left to dry in the day, and a pad soaked in it held there all night

if you can't use any tape, try wrapping cling film around or a bandage to keep the soaked cotton wool in place while you sleep

tea tree is antiviral, anti parasitic, and anti bacterial - wondrful stuff!

Have you tried peeing on it?

I've heard that helps. Or can somebody buy it from you? (Crazy old wives tale)

I had 2 and Dd had about 4 for at least 2 years, then one day they just vanished, painful as hell and didn't look nice.

Thanks for starting this OP, I've had one for 10 years now.. It's like an old friend But every now and then I try and get rid of it, tried allsorts, can't be cut off as it's on a joint.. I will try some of these!

My GP told me the best thing is to leave them. They do go, eventually, and then you have some immunity that you don't get if you treat the wart.

I had one for years and years. I used to file it down with an emery board so it wasn't too obvious and didn't catch on things. Then one day I realised I hadn't done it for a while and it was gone. That must be 20 years ago and I've never had another.

5 years seems like an awfully long time! I'm only 21 so that's about a quarter of my life.

I think I'll call my GP. I've been meaning to make an appointment about my sleeping troubles anyway.

Just ordered a wartner pen on one of these reccommendations, will report back!

Cider vinegar.

Vinegar. Any vinegar. Get some make up remover pads, cut chunks to size. Strap on with Micropore tape (non allergic - I'm allergic to the adhesive in pink plasters so it's all i can use).

Every night and day, whenever you can, drip vinegar on it. After about 5 days it'll hurt. By 10 days it'll be black surrounded by white & painful. But the only dead flesh will be affected flesh.

Be very brave and scrape it off/out with something suitable from your kitchen. It's painful!

But it worked for me with a tiny wart on my finger which got bigger and bigger over 25 years!

olgaga my DP did something similar! Pulling out the roots was the only thing that worked for him. I'm too much of a wuss..
