Because it struck me; this is it, last one, no more, end of the line Sad Ordered the hard cover one with the dust cover, gorgeous. How will I ever live without them?

YANBU. At least Sir Terry was prolific so it takes quite a while to re-read them.

BreacaBoudica · 06/06/2015 00:21

I can't even think about it. YANBU.

DirectorOfBetter · 06/06/2015 00:23

YADNBU. I remember buying The Colour of Magic.Sad

Daimgirl · 06/06/2015 00:25

Thank God. I thought I was the only one. I have it on pre order and got an up date email today and got all teary.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 06/06/2015 00:45

I had a notification from the PTerry Facebook page and went to order one, then suddenly found myself crying, couldn't stop. A very selfish part of me wallowed in self pity for a while because I will miss the novels so badly, but am so glad to have had them in my life flails around in a pity party If only he could have had more time; such a brilliant mind, such a cruel disease.

YA so NBU. But at least they all have infinite re-read value. I've been reading them all again since STP passed, not in order, just whichever one I feel like. It's been so nice and they are as fresh and funny and wise as the first times I ever read them.

whatsbehindthegreendoor · 06/06/2015 06:22

YANBU - I feel much the same way about Sue Townsend and no more Adrian Mole books - it sucks. I've never read a Discworld book, not normally my kind of book, but I am planning on starting them soon.

winewolfhowls · 06/06/2015 15:37

Yes to this.

Also iain m banks

And the man who was dalziel (name escapes me tho i loved him) when he was in poldark. Warren Clark?

Shakey1500 · 06/06/2015 15:40

It's not unreasonable to cry at things of this ilk in my opinion.

I'm laid up at the moment, DH and DS out and just bawled my eyes out at a the small piece of music that runs through the film Educating Rita!

Idontseeanydragons · 06/06/2015 15:50

YANBU Sad
I'm not ordering it just yet.

ouryve · 06/06/2015 15:53

I cried at the prospect of no more Sam Vimes.

Currently reading the long earth. It's a bit too surreal for falling asleep reading in bed, mind. Need to get a chunk of daytime reading in.

CatthiefKeith · 06/06/2015 15:57

YANBU.

I still tear up fairly regularly about it. Such brilliance, cut short. Sad

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 06/06/2015 16:02

YADNBU Sad

TheSconeOfStone · 06/06/2015 16:13

YADNBU although I haven't enjoyed the last few much. Found them a bit heavy going. When terry pratchett died I cried as it wasn't just him dying but sam vines, captain carrot, the unseen university, granny weatherwatch, nanny ogg etc, etc, etc.

Fanjango · 06/06/2015 16:25

I've preordered. It's so sad. So final Hmm
There is so much speculation as to what the cover picture means, even going as far as suggesting that it's the death of Granny ShockShock
Don't want to lose another precious part of the disc!!

Fanjango · 06/06/2015 16:27

Oh and no. Yanbu. Not u at all HmmHmm

GiddyOnZackHunt · 06/06/2015 16:34

Oh god yanbu. I have Raising Steam sat on my bookshelves and it's been there months. I can't bear to read it because it's bringing me one step closer to no more.

QueenStromba · 06/06/2015 16:37

This thread has made me cry. I've never been this emotional about a celebrity death before.

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/06/2015 16:37

I'm going to order it and try not to read it. Then there will always be one last book.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 06/06/2015 16:44

Sir Terry wasn't a celeb surely. He was the omnipotent ruler of the Discworld, the power behind the thrones. Far more than a celebrity Grin

42andGaffaTape · 06/06/2015 16:47

YANBU Sad

ProbablyMe · 06/06/2015 17:08

Not U at all. I still tear up when I realise that it's also the end of characters I've lived with for the last 28 years. I wanted to see young Sam grow up, see what would happen to Moist and Adorabelle, Carrot and Angua, Tiffany.... I feel real sorry at the loss of Sir Terry but also for the other world that I adore.

JsOtherHalf · 06/06/2015 19:50

YANBU. I think there are a lot of people feeling like this.

TheAssassinsGuild · 06/06/2015 19:53

YANBU.

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 06/06/2015 19:54

No more Sam Vimes, no more Granny, no more cannibal cheeses... Sad
