To want to scream 'stop looking at me!'

DiscoMoo · 27/05/2015 12:55

I'm forever being watched and it's driving me insane. While we sit and watch TV in the evening, my DP will turn away from the screen to LOOK at me. For no apparent reason. My mother does the same, we'll be watching TV together and I'll be aware that she's LOOKING at me from across the room. When I ask them why they're doing it, they have no reason - they're not trying to get my attention, I'm not doing anything interesting or strange, and I'm not so beautiful that they can't help but gaze upon my wondrous face.

Now my (female) colleague has started doing it - again, no apparent reason. I've checked my nose for stray snot and my mouth for unnoticed food. She doesn't want my attention.

STOP LOOKING AT ME!

And breathe.

Paranoia, maybe?

TobikkoRoll · 27/05/2015 12:57

Bet you are bleeding gorgeous GrinFlowers

Theycallmemellowjello · 27/05/2015 12:58

If you're watching tv, it's possibly to catch your eye and share the experience?

NomiMalone · 27/05/2015 12:58

Do you have a big wiry black hair growing out of your chin?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 27/05/2015 12:58

I'm forever being watched and it's driving me insane do you think that you're over reacting just a bit?

MaidOfStars · 27/05/2015 12:59

I like looking at my husband. I like to see his reaction to stuff.

I think you might be a little overly-sensitive to this. You're noticing normal "looks" and building them into something they aren't?

trappedinsuburbia · 27/05/2015 12:59

I get this too, my mum, my dp also when im watching tv !! I think hes secretly plotting how to kill me and hide the body. Seriously thoughit really pisses me off, it feels like an invasion of privacy.

User595994944 · 27/05/2015 13:00

Could you have an annoying habit you're not aware of? Loud breathing? Teeth grinding? Muttering under your breath?

That's if you are not, in fact, utterly irresistible to look at Grin

AGirlCalledBoB · 27/05/2015 13:00

Paranoid much?

gaggiagirl · 27/05/2015 13:00

DH does this to me but that's cos he adores gazing at my hypnotic beauty Wink

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 27/05/2015 13:03

Wipe that enormous dried bogey away from your nose

NRomanoff · 27/05/2015 13:04

If quite a few people are doing it, then there is a reason...or you are paranoid. Perhaps you happen to look up when they are glancing.

I like looking at dh....i think he is very handsome. Wink

MaidOfStars · 27/05/2015 13:05

Oh yes, check for annoying habits. Grinding, whistling sinus, wiggling/cracking fingers, jittering legs.

sebsmummy1 · 27/05/2015 13:08

My DP does it too. It's apparently because 'he loves me'. I want to punch his moony bloody face when he does it every fucking evening but instead I try and convince myself that it's sweet or something.

DiscoMoo · 27/05/2015 13:09

Not aware of any annoying habits. I'm sure DP would tell me!

In DP's case it probably is that he wants to 'share the experience'. No idea why my colleague does it, I'm sure that her work isn't so exciting that she needs to share the joy!

Also, some people obviously don't understand a bit of good natured hyperbole...

My ex used to stare at me. He's come into the bathroom just to watch me shower, had a thing for my feet so kept staring at them, he'd just sit there quietly staring at me not really saying anything. It was incredibly unnerving and a little to do with why we broke up.

viva100 · 27/05/2015 13:11

YABU. When we're watching TV sometimes we glance at each other to see each other's reactions/share it together. Lots of people do it e.g. if something's funny they'll glance at each other while laughing. Not sure about your colleague but you sound a bit like you're overreacting. Sometimes when thinking I'll look around the room and might also glance at someone in the process. It's not that weird. I can't stare at my computer screen non stop.

RagingJellyBean · 27/05/2015 13:11

Sometimes I stare at my husband for a really really long period of time.

Just to annoy him!

It works beautifully.

viva100 · 27/05/2015 13:12

Vivien - that sounds so incredibly creepy!

Klayden · 27/05/2015 13:13

Is the TV talking to you as well?

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 27/05/2015 13:14

If 3 separate people are doing it there must be a reason... Or you're just paranoid.

VivienScott · 27/05/2015 13:14

viva It was!

DiscoMoo · 27/05/2015 13:14

Haha yes they're probably doing it to wind me up! That makes the most sense.

Lookyfuckers.

DS does this when I'm eating or watching something.

You can't help but notice. He cannot say why he does it.

BadgersArse · 27/05/2015 13:20

op - humble brag IMO
