To have a glass of wine.

Currently 40+5 weeks pg, not touched a drop of alcohol throughout my pregnancy but this week has been the longest week ever and I'm feeling very stressed. Would it be wrong to have just one glass of white wine. I know iv gone 9 month without it and I should probably just wait the extra bit iv got left but I'm so stressed and fed up, a small glass of wine would be perfect right now!

Have it. A small one.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 15/05/2015 19:56

Have it and savour every mouthful, it'll do no harm whatsoever.

Relax, wine, bath , bed.

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 15/05/2015 19:57

Don't do it, you could go into labor at any time. I wouldn't know if alchol would interact with any pain relief you may need.

Enjoy the wine once the baby is here.

iwantgin · 15/05/2015 19:59

Go for it.

Have a nice relaxing evening. Smile

At 40 weeks, my midwife ordered me to get into the birth pool (I wasn't in labour, it was just nice and squishy), with a glass of cold white wine.

She was extremely reassuring that there was more or less bob-all risk at this stage.

Enjoy your glass OP, you've earned it!

Christelle2207 · 15/05/2015 20:01

I'm 39+6 and thinking exactly the same thing. Except I've had a few sneaky glasses all the way through. Let's have a small one eachSmile

SaucyJack · 15/05/2015 20:01

One small glass is really neither here nor there- especially considering you'll probably be off your tits on legal heroin this time tomorrow Wink

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 15/05/2015 20:01

People are generally mixed on this, but if it were me, I'd do it!

Enjoy!

Thatsmyboys · 15/05/2015 20:02

I had a glass of red every night in the last week of all my pregnancies. I am currently in bed with my 10 and 2 and 4 day olds and they are all little Beauts. Go for it x

Threesoundslikealot · 15/05/2015 20:03

Fellow May person here. I'm 40+5 and will be having a glass of wine with dinner on midwife's orders.

Chickenfillets · 15/05/2015 20:04

I think I might just have to have a small glass!! You have all made me feel less guilty! I do deserve it Grin

Relaxing with a small glass of wine will do no more harm than raised blood pressure due to stress.

Enjoy and good luck!

SaucyJack said what I was thinking but funnier.

Enjoy Wine

Bogeyface · 15/05/2015 20:17

With DC6 I went very over to the point that my home birth was at risk of becoming an induction. I had a glass of wine, then I had another half glass on the basis that it was my birthday, then H had to prize the bottle from my hands and pour it down the sink to stop me necking the lot! Interesting fact, pregnant women can leave nail marks in glass...who knew?! :o

I had her the next day!

Gruntfuttock · 15/05/2015 20:18

Enjoy your wine. Smile

spottybottycream · 15/05/2015 21:48

I wouldn't, I couldn't forgive myself for feeding my baby alcohol. Personally.

edwinbear · 15/05/2015 22:04

I had an independent midwife with my second, I called her when I went into labour and she told me to relax with a small glass of wine in the early stages. It helped no end, I was 7 cms within a couple of hours as I was so relaxed Grin.

squoosh · 15/05/2015 22:14

I couldn't forgive myself for feeding my baby alcohol.

Not even a crème de menthe in their bottle at Christmas?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 15/05/2015 22:18

spottybottycream

Good for you Love Smile

Alisvolatpropiis · 15/05/2015 22:22

I read that alcohol can be a labour inhibitor but if pp's midwives, who certainly know more than me on the subject, have suggested it then it probably isn't true.

One small glass isn't going to hurt op.
