I don't think any of the people who exercised their right to protest in a legal and peaceful way should be ashamed anymore than we shouldn't expect everyone who ever drinks alcohol to feel ashamed on behalf of the few who act like complete dicks after a drink.

Unfortunately, protests tend to attract people who have absolutely no interest in the issue at hand and simply see them as an opportunity to hide in a crowd and cause mayhem.

Not saying it wasn't a socialist who did this, but there is always a contingency who does this. Eg Charlie Gilmour off his face on LSD at the student fee demonstrations, looters in London riots who probably didn't even know who Mark Duggan was.

Those who defaced the war memorial should definitely be ashamed and they are helping no-one. Gutted as I am the people have spoken and we live in a democracy.

I don't think op tried to generalise on purpose. I meet good and bad in every party (except ukip ) but generally SWP is a far left extremist party.
