That's it, really. Let's hope that's the beginning of the end for UKIP.

It won't be.

squoosh · 08/05/2015 10:41

That cheers me greatly. Likewise Galloway's defeat.

ghostyslovesheep · 08/05/2015 10:41

one little bit of bright in a sea of gloom - I'll take that x

Jelliebabe1 · 08/05/2015 10:41

Has he? I cant see the result anywhere yet??? Have you got a link?

Starts warming up for a happy dance!

ilovesooty · 08/05/2015 10:41

Good.

Respect for the people of Thanet South.

Tanith · 08/05/2015 10:43

Just been confirmed!

JamNan · 08/05/2015 10:44

Thank God.

Bodyinpyjamas10 · 08/05/2015 10:44

And he can hardly go to Europe can he like poor old Cleggy!

This election has been so fantastic for seeing off pains in the arse.

Danny Alexander, Ed Balls, George Galloway, Vince cable and later on Nick Clegg and pehaps Ed himself.

So glad UKIP have been put in their place although I do think that's down to English voters being scared of a labour government held to ransom by the SNP.

Hey ho.

skinnyabc · 08/05/2015 10:45

Good news!Grin

ragged · 08/05/2015 10:45

On Radio 4-5 now, sounds firm result?

AWholeLottaNosy · 08/05/2015 10:46

UKIP got over 3.5 million votes though, that's not an inconsiderable amount...

MrsGentlyBenevolent · 08/05/2015 10:47

Exactly what I said, the silver lining that will get me through the next 5 years. Hope he quits and disappears wherever Nick Griffin went to.

Sickoffrozen · 08/05/2015 10:47

Doubt it will be the end of them. 3.8m people voted for them!

TravellingToad · 08/05/2015 10:48

UKIP got TWICE the number of votes that the SNP got. They're now considerably more popular than Lib Dem. They're a solid 3rd party in Britain.

partialderivative · 08/05/2015 10:49

Yes, UKIP get 12.6% of vote, but just one seat. SNP get 4.8% of vote, and come home with 56 seats.

All praise fptp!

Morelikeguidelines · 08/05/2015 10:59

I have often said l would never vote tory. But if I lived in thanet I would have done.

squoosh · 08/05/2015 11:05

I wonder how much money Nige has dropped on his Thanet bid.

ThreeBeanRap · 08/05/2015 11:11

So pleased about this, I hope he now fucks off and Ukip go the way of the BNP.

Kewcumber · 08/05/2015 11:14

I've never been so glad of a first past the post system!

But they will claim a moral victory with 12.5% of the vote and will not bugger off.

For a party who's main manifesto pledge is to control imigrations its odd how their only MP presides over an area of beleow the national average of people born outside the UK - 4% Confused Maybe they are a particularly scary 4%?

DamnBamboo · 08/05/2015 11:16

That's it, really. Let's hope that's the beginning of the end for UKIP

You are aware on a percentage basis they saw the biggest gains out of any party this election!
Clearly is it not anywhere near the beginning of the end.

Eastpoint · 08/05/2015 11:17

And this picture says it all. Well done Al Murray

Tanith · 08/05/2015 11:41

And now Clegg has resigned.

squoosh · 08/05/2015 11:43

Any chance that Nige will renege on his promise to step down as leader? He might decide that the people need him.
