To Wish People Would Give it a Rest with the Political Threads?

Every single one seems like Groundhog Day!

If posters really keep wishing to drag the same points back up again, can't they take it to the politics page?

OP posts:

YABU. It's the morning after one of the most interesting General Elections for decades. Of course people are going to want to discuss it.

SoupDragon · 08/05/2015 09:21

Yay! Thread Police!

just click hide. It's really very easy. I've just done it with this thread too because I am equally fed up with people whinging that they're fed up.

NoisyOyster · 08/05/2015 09:22

Yanbu.

Current threads I've hidden due to exasperation / nastiness / bullying / repetition: 24 Shock

dangerrabbit · 08/05/2015 09:23

YABU

There's just been a general election!!!

pictish · 08/05/2015 09:23

Well you know...it's kind of a nationwide event of the utmost gravity. Sorry it's boring you though.

Beachday · 08/05/2015 09:24

I can't believe people are thinking about anything else

19lottie82 · 08/05/2015 09:24

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g - Maybe so, but is there really any need to set up ANOTHER thread on the topic when there's already about 5 active ones on the first page of threads?

OP posts:
ElectraCute · 08/05/2015 09:25

Aw, do you want to talk about shoes or cleaning products instead? You know, like mummies are supposed to?

Hmm
ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/05/2015 09:25

YABU

It's hugely important and people want to discuss it.

Sorry that's not alright with you OP Confused

MehsMum · 08/05/2015 09:27

Oh, YABU.
Elections matter, and this one mattered more than most because a) the country has big problems and b) it wasn't clear until about 11pm how things were likely to turn out.

Anybody who was poll-watching is having to move their mental furniture around quite a lot. If you're not, and you're not interested, just hide the threads. Or have a day off MN.

RescueRangers · 08/05/2015 09:27

Oh look, here's another election thread. So, I'm gutted. What about you guys?

NoisyOyster · 08/05/2015 09:29

Not just mummies here electra, don't be so fucking condescending

But sure, let's talk about quantum dark matter if you don't want to talk about shoes. Or Latin verb tables perhaps?

TantrumsAndBalloons · 08/05/2015 09:29

Elections do matter.

So much so that before starting YET ANOTHER thread in chat, or AIBU, maybe you could think- I wonder if by some miracle there might be a thread about this already? And post on that?

magimedi · 08/05/2015 09:32

Totally agree with Tantrums

And there is a politics topic.............................

Most of what is now being said is just repetition.

OurGlass · 08/05/2015 09:32

Are you stupid enough to really ask that question?

ElectraCute · 08/05/2015 09:32

Thanks noisy, but I'm quite happy talking about the biggest political issue facing our country for years and years.

You're welcome to hide threads that bore you, though.

Perspective21 · 08/05/2015 09:34

YABVU I have a son with disabilities and I'm incredibly worried about the future of the NHS and the other services we rely upon. I reserve the right to be as political as I like, so there Angry
Don't open the thread if you don't like the title, HTH

TantrumsAndBalloons · 08/05/2015 09:34

But the thing is, surely if this is the most important event to you and you really need to discuss it, is it beyond the realms of possibility that some other people might feel the same?

I mean is it necessary to have 27 threads all discussing the same thing?

And yes, there's a politics topic. Why can't 27 people start individual threads there?

CrystalCove · 08/05/2015 09:35

Mumsnet is a perfect example of what the election is all about - democracy...people can start and participate in any threads they like thanks!

ThisTimeIAmMagic · 08/05/2015 09:35

Lots of people are shocked / depressed / distressed by the results. For people stuck at home this is water cooler chat - just bumping into different groups of people and discussing the news of the day.

Yanbu, sick to death of it. Im hiding almost everything for the past few days.

NoisyOyster · 08/05/2015 09:38

Damn maryz, I thought I was winning with my 27 and counting hidden topics Grin

TantrumsAndBalloons · 08/05/2015 09:39

That's exactly it MaryZ it's not a discussion anymore.
It's pointless repetition and AIBU
With no point.

There are thousands of people who want to discuss the election.
There is a politics topic which you would think would be full of people wishing to discuss the election and its results and repercussions

Not AIBU to ask why did you vote for x when y is so much better and it's not fair

MissDemelzaCarne · 08/05/2015 09:43

YABU
It's the day after a General Election, what the fuck do you expect? Hmm
You do know you don't have to read them?
