I don't care about what your manifesto is. I've come onto Mumsnet to avoid the bloody election. So don't post a bloody advert on my bloody laptop screen.

And by the way, SNP, Tories, LibDems, Greens, UKIP and every other political candidate - same goes for you.

SorryToDisturbYou Yes, but the threads have been going on for months and there isn't just one or two, there are loads and most just repeat thenselves. [grumpy]

I am also sick of the threads about the Royal baby too, because I'm a miserable cow!

Koalafications · 04/05/2015 23:15

Jackieharris · 04/05/2015 23:17

Yes I don't think it's appropriate to have it here.

SirChenjin · 04/05/2015 23:18

Try living up here - we've had years of it with the referendum and now the general election. I've developed an eye twitch and am losing the will to live.

Pipbin · 04/05/2015 23:18

I use adblocker too. The internet is busy enough without ads getting in the way too.

OrlandoWoolf · 04/05/2015 23:19

I learnt all I need to know (actually more than I needed to know) just by looking at the thread titles.

I have avoided the news but I know the name, the fact George was wearing "the wrong clothes", Kate wore white and there's something weird about William's hair.

Election threads are good - discussing and engaging in politics is important.

Adverts - get Adblocker.

Koalafications · 04/05/2015 23:23

Cake for you SirChenjin I'd be eye twitching too.

dougierose · 04/05/2015 23:24

Funnily enough, it hasn't reappeared ever since I posted this thread.

OP posts:
SirChenjin · 04/05/2015 23:24

No no no - election threads are bad. They get ugly, insults are flung, posts are deleted and someone usually ends up in tears. Bit like the rest of MN only bigger.

SirChenjin · 04/05/2015 23:25

Thank you Koala - cake is always v much appreciated Smile

OrlandoWoolf · 04/05/2015 23:26

That sounds like any thread where people have strongly held opposing beliefs.

Just like most of MN Grin

dougierose · 04/05/2015 23:26

On another note, I normally disapprove of cougars leering at younger men. But Kit Harington .... on Graham Norton..... swoons

OP posts:
SirChenjin · 04/05/2015 23:29

I know - but it seems particularly amplified on the political threads at the moment. You would have thought that the sight of the new Cambridge wean and her brother would have been enough to bring us all together, but no...the sniping continues in true MN style Grin

OrlandoWoolf · 04/05/2015 23:30

sirchenjin

Have you seen the Republican threads Grin

SirChenjin · 04/05/2015 23:34

I have...they are quite something Grin

Night all Smile

ChasedByBees · 04/05/2015 23:38

I thought ads were based on search histories too. It's why it's an excellent prank to google antique dolls on someone else's computer. Freaky staring dolls in all their ads forever more.

shitebag · 04/05/2015 23:45

I'm genuinely confused as to why I can't see anything other than scooters!

I'm using browser on my phone, wonder if that makes a difference.

ChubbyKitty · 05/05/2015 00:06

Chased - just...thank you so much for that. I'm going to have a lot of fun!

Also yanbu op, it doesn't sit right with me for some reason.

ThisFenceIsComfy · 05/05/2015 00:12

I watched something on YouTube last night and the sponsored advert was a Tory ad. The 'Skip Ad' button was never a more welcome sight.

I do like a good election thread though.

Your ad banner is usually set by your googling tendencies though. You secret Labour lover you.

Stratter5 · 05/05/2015 00:45

I have hairdryers, I guess that's because I just read the hair disaster thread in Chat.

I know, fancy politicos using social media. I think they should cut holes in rocky mountains, like early Christians, and hide in them.

Jackieharris · 05/05/2015 11:25

Sirchenjin- it doesn't end here, holyrood elections are only 12 months away then the council elections in 2017. You get 2018 off the the euros in 2019 then back to this in 2020 then it all starts again. And that's not including another indyref in 5-10 years time.

BakewellSlice · 05/05/2015 11:28

Jackie you are the voice of doom! Wink Grin

I 'm getting Lidl. The internet knows I'm cheap.

RonaldMcDonald · 05/05/2015 11:28

I like it
