to have not got a dishwasher sooner?

I have had our new lovely dishwasher for 4 days now. I am beginning to wonder how I coped without it.

It is such a novelty at the moment but I am so happy!! The time it is saving me is so welcoming. Today, I made a huge roast dinner and for the first time ever, I didn't have to worry about the mountain of dishes, pots, pans and cutlery afterwards. Instead, DS and I managed to sit down and do his homework.

I could never ever go back to washing by hand.

I'm with you on this one. Have had one now for a couple of months or so and I still find myself appreciating the beauty of not having to do the washing up - novelty is still there! Even took out insurance to ensure we will never be without one if it breaks down!

YADNBU... I removed a set of drawers from my.kitchen just to accommodate a dishwasher.

I've never had a dishwasher because I've never wanted one.

I've seen so many threads and heard so many people arguing in RL, about who stacks them/how they stack them/who should empty them etc...

We just wash up as we go along.

my parents recently had a new kitchen fitted and couldn't even countenance the idea of a dishwasher. god forbid!!
i could not believe it.
DF always, ALWAYS insists on doing the washing up himself very badly and today it took him many, many, many boils of the kettle to get the sunday roast washed up.
DM is very stingy about putting on the heating for some hot water.
DF did the washing up today in stages over 6 hours.
but then these are two people who accepted a new tv without a remote, saying that the exercise of getting up to change the channel would be good for us.
honestly, sometimes i think the pair of them are actually stupid.

i think i would go without a fridge before i'd go without a dishwasher.

We have two!!!! (smug emotion!!!) However they are dishwasher drawers (half sizes). But great coz you can have one on and one to fill!!!

We were getting the kitchen completely redone and decided to get one "as it would be useful occasionally when we had lots of people round". 15 years and two kids later it is on almost every day.

YANBU. Our dishwasher broke the other week. It was the fastest DH has ever got an item fixed as the thought of doing the dishes again filled us both with such dread. I love love love ours.

I swore I wasn't having a dishwasher, then as we were having such a large new kitchen I got talked into it. I've had it about a month now. I love it! I'm also kicking myself that I didn't get one years ago.

I once worked for a family as an au pair, and they had two, so there was never any hassle loading and unloading - one was always for dirty stuff, the other was a cupboard, they just swopped over, if you see what I mean. It was great.

I have had dishwashers for 10 years now and I wouldn't be without it. We never argue about who loads it because we put things in as we go along instead of putting them in the sink. After dinner the person who didn't cook takes the plates away, puts them in the dishwasher and switches it on. It saves sooooo much time and effort.

Random question here, I saw an article that said you can wash your veggies on the cold cycle. Wouldn't it cover them in rinse aid?

Also has anyone put their wellies in?

I never wanted one, and thought they were a waste of space. Then we bough our house last month...and the previous owner left a dishwasher. It's awesome! I love it ... Wouldn't be without one now.

I love mine. Due to cowboy builders we've been without a kitchen since November, BUT the sink and (more importantly) the dishwasher have remained plumbed in throughout. My dishwasher is currently a little island of civilization in the midst of concretey rubbly mess. Thankfully we have new builders now, and thank goodness for the dishwasher - never has so much tea been consumed

Because people don't argue about who does the washing up, drying up and putting the dishes away?

If people want to argue, they will always find reasons to.

I was always reluctant to entertain the idea of a dishwasher. Stuff always tasted/smelt funny to me when it had been through one.

Then we moved to a house with one already sitting there and I fucking love it. Ridiculously so. Stack it, switch on and hey presto you're not a slovenly stig who convinces themselves that a sink full of washing waiting till the morning doesn't matter.

I don't know why some peoples glasses and crockery smell funny because ours doesn't but I reckon the love I lavish on it with maintenance cleans makes a difference.

There seem to be a certain group of people (perhaps it's a generational thing) which is somewhat puritanical in their approach to chores.

My parents are like this. They have only just got a dishwasher. My DF insists on washing everything up BEFORE they fill it. Sigh....

DH and I once had an argument in Currys when our last dishwasher broke. I wasn't sure we wanted to pay the extra £15 to get it delivered next day. He was right, we would have had to wash up for another 24 hours otherwise
