AAAH WHat is this song??

I know this is AIBU but I am going mad with it! It's a song from the late70s or early 80s...something about Autumn...leaves...she's leaving him...going somewhere warmer...]

Not "All the leaves are brown"

It's got a haunting sort of cheesy-ness to it.

Gary Barlow did a version as part of the reworked War of the Worlds.

I liked it, apart from when he sang about darker days "draw-ring" near.

Still a beautiful song though

Didn't thid have a revival in the 80s with David Essex? I remember school dance class to the war of the world's soundtrack and I loved that song.

We played the War of the World's soundtrack a lot when I was a child; as a result hearing Forever Autumn still slightly frightens me.

All I can hear is 'OOOOH-LAAAAAAA' Sad

It was the Richard Burton narration I recall which terrified me, could have sworn David Essex did a version of that song but I can't find it.
Must make DD watch it, she'd love it.
