4 yo DD gel nails

AIBU or is this fucking insane?!

Ladies that are all awesome with the nail polish thing! I need help! DD is turning 4 soon and I want to get her a nice gel nail starter set. The one with the U/V lights so they don't chip during normal toddler play. I think it would make her really happy and weekly manicures/pedicures would be something really nice for mommy and baby to do together.

I just spotted this post on another forum I frequent. WTF love?! I kind of know the poster and I'm shocked she is asking this question, I think it is ridiculous, utterly.

She must be joking surely?

Sherlocked221b · 15/04/2015 19:18

Wont that completely ruin her nails?!

CaptainSubtext · 15/04/2015 19:19

Hmm (to the quote, not you OP!)

WilsonWilsonWoman · 15/04/2015 19:19

No, she's not, I'm flabbergasted! I just read it again and went slack jawed all over again! Shock no one else has responded yet and I know if I do all hell will be unleashed...

Can't be serious? Children have such soft nails!

KatieKaye · 15/04/2015 19:20

It has to be a wind up.
Nothing wrong with a wee bit of ail varnish for a 4 year old for special occasions or even just for fun. With the nail varnish you just happen to have in the house (about 20 bottles of the stuff in my case and I only paint my toenails!)
But a gel nail kit??? For a four year old?

And why is she calling a child who will soon be starting school a baby and a toddler?

Fanfeckintastic · 15/04/2015 19:20

Rifeckindiculous

GloGirl · 15/04/2015 19:21

Just in case she isn't thinking clearly, do let her know the idea is dreadful!

scarletforya · 15/04/2015 19:24

Oh my God. Dangerous chemicals, an Ultraviolet machine.......what the hell?

Sirzy · 15/04/2015 19:24

If your wanting the non confrontational approach could you point out when she starts school it wouldn't be allowed?

WilsonWilsonWoman · 15/04/2015 19:24

I just replied saying I wasn't sure that was the best idea but you can buy kiddy type peel off stuff for fun occasions...awaiting my head getting bitten off. That place can be a bit stabby lol!

Omg. No. Just no.

Delilahfandango · 15/04/2015 19:25

ConfusedShockShockConfused no way!!! Agree a bit of polish now and again is no problem - but gel nails and manicures WTF??!!!

daffsandtulips · 15/04/2015 19:26

Well its not only daft in my eyes but horrible.

My big concern here is gel/acrylic nails damage the real nail underneath.

I'd also be horrified if any nail bar would take part in "manicuring" them!

I wouldn't even get that for my DDs now!! Is she insane? This bit makes the quote though: weekly manicures/pedicures would be something really nice for mommy and baby to do together. There are much better ways of bonding with your child. Some people.....Hmm

Joyfulldeathsquad · 15/04/2015 19:30

What site is it?

WilsonWilsonWoman · 15/04/2015 19:33

It's a private forum, so no public access. Someone has just backed me up! Phew! Smile

Nah. Don't believe it.

CommunistLegoBloc · 15/04/2015 19:35

UV light regularly from 4 years old? Hello skin cancer.

Lunastarfish · 15/04/2015 19:38

Ditto communist! UV is UV, nail machines are no better than sunbeds

Stopandlook · 15/04/2015 20:34

Update on her reply needed please OP!
