4 yo DD gel nails

AIBU or is this fucking insane?!

Ladies that are all awesome with the nail polish thing! I need help! DD is turning 4 soon and I want to get her a nice gel nail starter set. The one with the U/V lights so they don't chip during normal toddler play. I think it would make her really happy and weekly manicures/pedicures would be something really nice for mommy and baby to do together.

I just spotted this post on another forum I frequent. WTF love?! I kind of know the poster and I'm shocked she is asking this question, I think it is ridiculous, utterly.

There's concern about cancer from the uv lights - seems worse to do it on a tiny tot like that

WilsonWilsonWoman · 15/04/2015 20:54

She's not been back, will update if she does. Hoping she did a 'wtf was I thinking?' after a moment to consider the madness! Smile

Ridiculous. What's she going to be doing at 23? Mommy and teeny Botox?

GraysAnalogy · 15/04/2015 20:57

Some people astound me

kali110 · 15/04/2015 20:58

Omg can you really get skin cancer from the lights? I never thought about that! What about the led ones?

GraysAnalogy · 15/04/2015 21:00

Yes kali. A study found you would only need to use the lamps 11 times to increase the cancer risk

GraysAnalogy · 15/04/2015 21:01

LED lights are safe supposedly

YouBetterWerk · 16/04/2015 09:36

Any update OP??

worldgonecrazy · 16/04/2015 09:39

I'm just thinking of the damage done to my nails by gel (even when I try and soak them for 5 hours in acetone to soften the gel for removal). A child's nails are so much more delicate than ours.

I didn't know about the UV risk!

WilsonWilsonWoman · 16/04/2015 10:04

She's not been back but others have suggested the led option which I disagree with but whatever. I just think it's crazy and utterly unnecessary no matter what you do, why do you want to mani/pedi a fucking 4 yo? She's in America, when do they start school?
