In Ferguson their were still some saying well he did somthing wrong yadda yadda but not only did this officer shoot the guy in the back he then cuffed a dead body then plated evidence on the dead man

Crust I think Obama needs to make a executive call and place cameras on all officers

I hope ALL of the officers arrests are reviews

Agreed.

There seem to be huge culture problems within the US police. Something has to be done about these incidents.

99pokerface · 08/04/2015 08:28

I think it's one thing to hear about these things but seeing the officer plant evidence to cover up his wrongful shooting is just

When me a dh watch those police type shows were always astounded how heavey they go in compared to UK police as a person that's BME I know the UK force has its issues but I would rather be a balck person and dealing with the police than in the us any day we did think of moving to the U.S. a while back but having a black son this is one of the reasons that's stopped us

YANBU

Police cameras could be a good idea.

CheerfulYank · 08/04/2015 08:36

No matter what Obama does people will oppose it, unfortunately.

Sadly it sometimes doesn't seem to matter if there's video evidence. Look at the shooting of Tamir Rice, who was just a child for God's sake.

I love my country, I do, but this has got to stop.

Sixweekstowait · 08/04/2015 08:38

And eight shots? I'm waiting now for all the reasons why he won't be fit to stand trial - they really are in a cleft stick aren't they? And the state has the death penalty but that's only for black people killing white people

99pokerface · 08/04/2015 08:39

When you hear people say I have been fitted up by the police it makes you wonder

We once saw a programme about a pawn shop guy who the police thought had information about a gun that they felt had come from his store the officer placed a wrap of crak cocine in the draw wile the other officer was talking to him came back 3 hours later the proceeded to arrest him for drugs saying that if he gave the info he would be spared the drugs change well didn't they get a shock when the guys lawyer produced the cctv from the shop and showed everything he said if he hadn't had it he would of just been another balck crack dealer

I am waiting for all the bigots to say he brought it on himself Confused

Jacobsmum1972 · 08/04/2015 09:54

The video made me feel sick. Why eight times? Why shoot to kill? Why shoot anyway?

The officer is a complete racist scumbag.

Sixweekstowait · 08/04/2015 09:56

I know I watch far too much CSI but really he was killed on Saturday - wouldn't the post mortem have shown the number of shots, that they were in his back and the distance they were fired from? My suspicion would be that it's not just the police that are racist.

99pokerface · 08/04/2015 09:58

Well I imagin that's why he planted the taser to try and cover his tracks and the dead can't speak I suppose

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 08/04/2015 10:00

I doubt he'll get the death penalty but I don't think there's any way he won't get jail time.

And prison will not be a cakewalk for him, not after what he did and not as a police officer.

hobNong · 08/04/2015 10:02

Dp told me about this this morning. Heartbreaking and not surprising. I know the UK police force isn't perfect but I hope we never descend to that level.

Would be interesting to see the whole video, the taser appears to be in the floor between the officer and Walter Scott, I wonder what he did to make the police officer go for his gun?

99pokerface · 08/04/2015 10:15

850pro

You get the price I was wondering when somone would come on and say that tbh no matter what he did she was shot in the back the back he was running away the officer new he was wrong the cuffed the guy and then planted evidence no matter what a citizen is doing the police do not get to act like the Mafia

OP posts:
99pokerface · 08/04/2015 10:16

The taser was planted btw

Me too Back. He has such a friendly face. I can't imagine how his poor friends and family must be feeling. How his children and fiancee are feeling Sad

exmrs · 08/04/2015 10:20

FRom the video it's clear it's murder but there is a black police officer who helps stage the scene so not sure whether racist murder or not.

Sometimes I think the police murders are not always about racism it's a power complex and superiority that some police officers have and I think this police officer lost it completely when the man tried to run away.

CheerfulYank · 08/04/2015 10:22

I think it's both Ex. Even people who are not what I'd call "maliciously" racist still have a knee jerk reaction to see a black man as more threatening than a white one.

exmrs · 08/04/2015 10:22

What I mean is I think this officer would have shot anyone running away whether they was white or black.

hobNong · 08/04/2015 10:23

850Pro maybe the type of person who is capable of shooting eight times at an unarmed person in the back while they run away, is the type of person who gives off signs that they're a heartless scumbag. Maybe Walter Scott didn't live in a bubble and was aware of the record of police killing black people. Maybe he ran because he was scared for his life.

FizzyNuts · 08/04/2015 10:29

exmrs I have to disagree with you, I don't think the officer would have just shot anyone running away... The race element is central to the power complex, the black officer also at the scene means nothing.

FizzyNuts · 08/04/2015 10:31

warning the link below also contains another very recent and graphic video of a (mentally ill) black man being shot by police officers.

Horrific.

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/mar/18/video-dallas-police-shooting-mentally-ill-black-man

areyoubeingserviced · 08/04/2015 11:16

Agree with Fizzynuts- the fact that the 'suspect' was black made it 'easier'to kill him.

lightgreenglass · 08/04/2015 12:10

Reading the comments on the independent make me feel disappointed as so many blaming the victim as to why he was running.
