It looks amazing :( I am in the States and can't find it anywhere. Maybe Netflix will get it later.

I don't want to use any illegal sites as I crashed a laptop trying to watch Downton Abbey in real time it is wrong.

Sigh.

If it's any consolation none of the illegal sites are working in the UK any more. I had to stop watching the Good Wife at episode 12. Grin

It might be the same there

HookedOnHooking · 06/04/2015 21:39

It's great. I'd like it to be on every night.

CheerfulYank · 06/04/2015 21:41

I can't find anything about when it will be released even! :(

You can get a app thingy which you pay £5 a month via PayPal which makes your tablet think your in the UK and then you can download British programmes via the bbc iplayer/4od apps :)

Peepants78 · 06/04/2015 21:51

There is a fan page on Facebook called Aidan Turner Corner. Somebody shared a link on there for international viewing. (I tried but I can't do a link for you from here). Sorry.

Rainbunny · 06/04/2015 23:44

I'm in the USA too - don't worry Poldark is coming to PBS in June as a Sunday night Masterpiece series. Yay!

BIWI · 06/04/2015 23:46

It's shit. Nothing like the original series. And you'd be far better off reading the books, which are brilliant! Google Winston Graham and download them, or buy them on Amazon.

Here's a link: www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/programs/poldark/

BIWI - I try not to get my hopes up for tv/movie adaptations.

I just viewed episode 1 of Wolf Hall last night and I'm not terribly impressed unfortunately. Come to think of it though, I found the books strangely unenjoyable as well and I usually enjoy everything from Dostoevsky to Jilly Cooper. I will try the Poldark books for sure though!

BIWI · 07/04/2015 00:03

I was so disappointed with this series. I loved the first series, and I loved the books (I read them about a million years ago!)

This series started off very promisingly - beautiful locations, lovely cast etc. But the filming was shocking. Brief scene here. Cut to next scene. Then to next one. Nothing was well established. It was all so perfunctory. Like they'd shot hours worth of film but edited it down to the briefest few seconds to tell the story.

I really found it uncomfortable to watch.

Frostycake · 07/04/2015 00:51

God, it's worth it just to see Aiden Turner's gorgeous face I freeze frame it and lick the screen

I agree with BIWI on the chopped scenes though (poor editing perhaps) but good acting, beautiful scenery and did i mention Aiden Turner?

Im sure it'll get sold on soon & picked up by one of the US stations.

CheerfulYank · 07/04/2015 03:11

Yay Rainbunny! I don't have PBS but it will probably be available for sale on amazon prime at least.

I'm not too worried. I haven't read the books so even if it's mildly entertaining I'm sure it will be good enough for me. :)

Cheerful - do you have amazon fire tv (approx $100 to buy). I'm pretty sure you can get the PBS app on amazon fire tv without needing cable etc... we did :) Plus we use it for netflix, Hulu etc...

StarlingMurmuration · 07/04/2015 06:46

My brother streams tv shows through his Raspberry Pi, is that an option?

howabout · 07/04/2015 07:04

Are you sure you don't get PBS? When I was in the US I watched it all the time! So I think you could be unreasonable about that. I watched the original series and read all the books. I actually think the new TV adaptation is much better and grittier and not so over romanticised as the earlier one. I also think the characterisations are closer to the books. Worth watching just for Aiden with or without his shirt off and I think he has matured like fine wine since his Being Human days. I was very disappointed with the remake of Mapp and Lucia though, so I wouldn't bother tracking it down.

CheerfulYank · 07/04/2015 10:07

I don't have a TV howabout, so I am sure! :) We watch everything on the iPad or occasionally on our phones.

We are thinking about getting a TV but would probably still just stream things rather than get cable; I don't like the constant commercials and I know if we had cable it would be on all the time.

If we do get a TV we will possibly do Amazon fire Rainbunny! It looks like what we're looking for.

Yeah.....but........Aiden Turner?!

howabout · 07/04/2015 16:02

Ah now I see. Got a few friends in the US cancelling cable packages and just streaming so your way makes sense, especially if you don't want to be a self confessed telly addict like me ;-)

Bowlersarm · 07/04/2015 16:05

It's fab. Ignore BIWI Grin. Not as good as first time around obvs. Has there ever been a better romantic hero than Ross Poldark? Weak knees and all swoonie thinking about him.

DidoTheDodo · 07/04/2015 16:06

BIWI I totally agree. It all seems so hurried with condensed timescales and none of the storylines are developed properly.
Watch the 70s series or better still, read the wonderful books for a proper Poldark experience.

And I'm afraid Aidan Turner doesn't do it for me either.

Rainbunny · 07/04/2015 19:10

We are cancelling our cable this month. It's just ridiculous that we spend money on it every month when the few tv shows we like are on Hulu anyway.

BIWI · 07/04/2015 19:13

On the positive side, I'm now about to start book 4, and am really enjoying reading the books again.

Sallyingforth · 07/04/2015 19:23

I've only seen brief bits of it but they all seem to be the same - some guy riding a horse back and forth along a cliff top with the sea behind him. Perhaps the rest is better?
