DS is about 20 mins walk away and has just and has just texted to ask for a lift home because he needs the loo.

I told him to run. AIBU?

I'm such a sucker - it's probably a 2 minute drive though - I'd go and get my DD in that situation.
I need to toughen up!

BuzzardBird · 02/04/2015 17:10

What if he has the runs? It must be quite an urgent need if he has asked you for a lift?

Salmotrutta · 02/04/2015 17:10

I don't know. Smile

How old is he?

icelollycraving · 02/04/2015 17:11

How old is he? Has he got an upset tum?

FenellaFellorick · 02/04/2015 17:11

I don't know about other people, but I couldn't hold it in for 20 minutes. If it's coming - it's coming!

i'd fetch him.

Sirzy · 02/04/2015 17:11

I would. To have txt maybe he is worried he won't make it?

DrinkDracula · 02/04/2015 17:12

I would also pick him up.

shewept · 02/04/2015 17:12

How old is he and does he does this sort of thing alot. My dbro would use ridiculous excuses to get mum to pick him, in fact he does it now 37

FiveExclamations · 02/04/2015 17:12

Wouldn't running speed up the process he's trying to avoid? I'd advise walking quickly but smoothly to minimise jiggling of internal parts.

FenellaFellorick · 02/04/2015 17:13

and isn't running when you're clenching just going to make the situation even more dire? Grin

Sirzy · 02/04/2015 17:13

Yes 5 it probably would.

Buttercup27 · 02/04/2015 17:13

I would get him. Trying to walk fast when you need the loo is horrible!

shewept · 02/04/2015 17:13

And yes he did use 'i need to poo' excuse several times.

Salmotrutta · 02/04/2015 17:13

"Jiggling of internal parts" Grin

FiveExclamations · 02/04/2015 17:13

Blast, posted too soon.

If he is in genuine distress I would pick him up.

Pyjamaramadrama · 02/04/2015 17:15

I'd get him, when you're desperate you're desperate.

LynetteScavo · 02/04/2015 17:15

I must be evil then...he came home quite quickly and made it to the loo. Grin

I feel like I've been taken for granted recently re driving DC 2mins around the corner. And I've started cooking and had half a glass of wine.

ThroughThickandThin · 02/04/2015 17:16

I'd probably get him unless you know he's pulling a fast one. Horrible to have to walk when you've got to go...

LynetteScavo · 02/04/2015 17:17

And I may he really unsympathetic here, but he wants the loo at odd times, like when he's on the school bus or on a train.

Personally I need to be relaxed.

cardibach · 02/04/2015 17:19

I don't get this 'if it's coming it's coming' idea that you can't stop a poo. What do you all do if you are travelling on the motorway?

Silvercatowner · 02/04/2015 17:19

I'm intrigued by the people who seemingly cannot hold it in..... how do you manage when you don't have immediate access to a loo (and isn't that what toilet training is meant to teach you to be able to do??)

FenellaFellorick · 02/04/2015 17:25

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't eat.

I don't leave the house until I have gone in the morning.

I will then be ok unless I eat, in which case within a few minutes of eating, I get horrible cramps and have to go.

There is no holding it in. None. If I try - and sorry to be so gross but you did ask (I bet you'll never ask again Grin ) it seeps through my clenched buttocks. I cannot hold it.

I have the same bewilderment about people who talk about holding it in for hours and sometimes even days. I read on here about someone who was saying she just didn't go when she was on holiday. Just chose not to.

I was like Shock wtf? how the hell do you stop it from coming out!

PurpleSwift · 02/04/2015 17:26

Assuming he isn't ill then YANBU. Sometimes it's just got to wait!

OtherBarry · 02/04/2015 17:36

I used to work with someone who only pooed every two weeks. She'd announce "I think today's the day!" as she did a little dance to the toilet Grin

Silvercatowner · 02/04/2015 17:38

Fenella I think you should run that passed your doctor......
