Amazing Indian takeaway for dinner tonight, really good. Except for the usual freebie: limp salad in a tightly knotted freezer bag. Why???

Nope. Goes straight in the bin!

formerbabe · 27/03/2015 22:48

I like the salad! I think it adds a freshness and crunch to the proceedings!

hiddenhome · 27/03/2015 22:49

We eat ours. It's never limp.

I always make a salad while Dp goes for the take away. But I am particular about salads. Ds loves takeaway salad- but he is a philestine.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 27/03/2015 22:51

The only salady type bit we get is the onion/cucumber/tomato bit for poppadoms. Does everyone else get actual salad? Shock

Discopanda · 27/03/2015 22:52

I do! I pick out the tomato wedge though because URGH

mindthegap79 · 27/03/2015 22:52

To be honest the tomato still had some crunch I think, but it fell onto the carpet when I ripped the bag open, so we'll never know for sure.

Mm love the salad with mint sauce drizzled over, lovely.

I took salad for lunch the other day BUT I put it in a takeaway container - cardboard lid and everything - I very much enjoyed the TADA moment when I opened it in front of colleagues. My healthy lunch was in a brilliant disguise.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 27/03/2015 22:59

I eat the cucumber, Dh eats the tomato. The rest goes in the bin.

Tbh I always feel like we're dicing with death when we do it though.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 27/03/2015 23:02

Why the heck has no one commented on you salad placement?

On the furniture!

Sofaux pas.

Tut.

MrsCosmopilite · 27/03/2015 23:07

The takeaway we used to use gave us little bags of salad. I used to sprinkle it over my poppadoms, drizzle with raita and crunch my way through.

ArcheryAnnie · 27/03/2015 23:09

I like the salad! Except for the GIANT CHUNKS OF RAW ONION, but then I keep them and put them in next day's dinner.

mindthegap79 · 27/03/2015 23:19

I am a little embarrassed about my salad placement. If you look closely however you will note the edge of an Ikea tray adorning my footstool. The perfect combination of classiness and practicality Grin

mindthegap79 · 27/03/2015 23:20

The raw onion even overpowers the lemon wedge!

ilovemargaretatwood8931 · 27/03/2015 23:22

Well, my DH calls it 'bin-salad', so you can probably guess what we do with it!

Having said that, have been to some takeaways that give out superior salad in a box, that is gratefully eaten!

MrsTedCrilly · 27/03/2015 23:23

No! We always say "what a waste", I guess we should ask them to not bother. I love salad but when I'm being naughty I don't want any! Blush

mindthegap79 · 27/03/2015 23:29

Exactly. I love salad too, but when I've ordered a deep fried starter plus all the sundries and an extra paratha buffer against DH's gannetous ways, I don't want salad!

OP posts:
ArcheryAnnie · 27/03/2015 23:30

They will leave it out if you say! I always ask for no free sauces (mint, chili and raita) as I'd feel guilty just dumping them.

AmyElliotDunne · 27/03/2015 23:33

I do! I make a little nest of it with an onion bhaji and some of that yellow emulsion paint sauce which I eat as a starter while the rest of it goes in the oven to keep warm and for the naan to refresh so it's not all sweaty!

DoJo · 27/03/2015 23:34

Then why were you even opening it? Or was it just to fling it around the room and mock it's limpness? Your story is FULL of holes! Grin

Kaekae · 27/03/2015 23:47

The salad that comes with ours always looks really nice and fresh but I don't eat it. However, my 7 year old likes to pick out the carrot to eat.

mindthegap79 · 27/03/2015 23:48

I wanted to check! Also considered putting the lemon in a drink but this was a silly plan. It was all cucumbery.
