To think that breakfast in bed is not at all nice?

When I wake up I have bleary eyes and a yakky mouth. I always need a wee immediately. Then I have to have 2 coffees before I can even consider eating anything. Who wants food as soon as they wake up?

I want food when I wake up, DD still breastfeeds in the night so I wake up ravenous, but years ago DM told me if I ate in bed rats would come into my bed at night. She didn't want crumbs on sheets. I was heart stoppingly terrified. I now cannot countenance the thought of eating in bed.

ARoomWithoutAView · 15/03/2015 14:05

I just feel uncomfortable eating in bed. I always need a shower and a juice before sitting down to breakfast.

MrsFlannel · 15/03/2015 14:10

Me too Room! Food and beds do not go together do they?

YANBU, it is disgustingly unhygienic. I can only countenance a cup of tea in bed, anything that makes crumbs, definitely not.

Stinkersmum · 15/03/2015 14:14

I need to be awake for a couple of hours before I eat. Bit on a Friday our treat is a maccy d's muffin breakfast in bed.

butterfly2015 · 15/03/2015 14:14

I had a croissant in bed. The bed now needs to be vacuumed.

nooyearnooname · 15/03/2015 14:18

two words. crumbs. bum. not naice

SnakeyMcBadass · 15/03/2015 14:19

Yanbu. A cup of tea is bliss, but no food. No.

JennyBlueWren · 15/03/2015 14:22

Crumbs in the sheets!

Nomama · 15/03/2015 14:30

Ah! If DH is home he does breakfast in bed.

Saturday: 7am cup of coffee; 8am toast or tostadas
Sunday: 7am cup of coffee; 8ish toast, scrambled egg and bacon

But I couldn't eat if the coffee hadn't come first.

And I don't get any crumb trouble... you must be messy eaters Smile

And I really am not sure how it is 'disgustingly unhygienic'... how does that work?

catsofa · 15/03/2015 15:26

Breakfast in bed is lovely, you sound like you're all getting up far too early for it though. Sleep til 11, then you'll be hungry.

Logistics here are complicated by cat in bed.

fredfredgeorgejnr · 15/03/2015 15:32

How do you keep crumbs in the bed anyway, surely the sheets are changed every day and the crumbs would be in the old ones?

breakfast in bed is odd though

FuckItBucket · 15/03/2015 15:37

I had the toaster at the side of my bed so I could have potato waffles in bed.

There's no one to make anything. If some one came on and passed me a slice of toast I would be overjoyed Grin

Nomama · 15/03/2015 15:38

Ah! He has to serve it at 8ish, I have a nasty habit of getting up and doing things by about 9 Smile

Passmethecrisps · 15/03/2015 15:38

As long as I don't tip my bacon sandwich onto the sheet and eat it straight off there i can't see it being hugely unhygienic.

Passmethecrisps · 15/03/2015 15:39

When our 2yo joins us we do end up in a bed of crumbs mind you.

Lweji · 15/03/2015 15:39

surely the sheets are changed every day and the crumbs would be in the old ones?

LOL
Yeah, sure. Every day.

Lweji · 15/03/2015 15:40

I'm happy if someone makes me breakfast, but not particularly fond of it in bed unless I'm ill.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 15/03/2015 15:41

Dh brings me tea and toast in bed every weekend, love it!

Weebirdie · 15/03/2015 15:44

I have breakfast on a tray in my room everyday, tea, toast, and a boiled egg. Sometimes I have it in bed, sometimes I get up and have it at my little table that overlooks the garden.

Its my treat and a good way to start the day when you've slept with one eye and one ear open in case your severely disabled son gets up in the middle of the night and tries to go to KFC.

Then there are the hot flushes that also keep me awake and truth be told come morning Im cream crackered.

ClashCityRocker · 15/03/2015 15:48

No, I just wouldn't have thought eating in a semi-reclined position would be comfy.

And I normally wake up sweaty and a bit smelly with a full bladder and a mouth like a badgers arse so it wouldn't be the nicest atmosphere to eat breakfast in.

Hoppinggreen · 15/03/2015 15:52

YANBU. I would hate it but luckily DH knows this so doesn't do it.
I can't eat or drink until I have been up for a while and usually have breakfast around 9 after doing the school run.
I get a lie in on Sunday and God help anyone who woke me up with a cuppa.

Mrsfluff · 15/03/2015 15:53

I love breakfast in bed, with a cup of tea and my book and manage to not make any mess or get a crumb bum. So it's a YABU from me!

Passmethecrisps · 15/03/2015 15:53

I get out of bed and have a wee beore eating what is presented to me.

Viviennemary · 15/03/2015 15:57

I agree. Too messy and crumbs everywhere. Horrible.
