Going to a wedding tomorrow and I can't decide. I only have teal nail varnish so not subtle

If they wanted me to. I painted them at 1+

Only paint, you aren't offering meth

EponasWildDaughter · 13/03/2015 18:58

I wouldn't. Not in teal. I'd do a nice soft colour :)

JennyOnTheBlocks · 13/03/2015 18:58

why can't you decide?

SuperMumTum · 13/03/2015 19:00

I paint my 3 year olds toe nails occasionally as she loves it and it's pretty harmless in the grand scheme. I would let her have nail varnish on her fingers for a special occasion but it would come off the next day as imo its not appropriate for day to day wear for a little one.

oohnewshoes · 13/03/2015 19:00

5 year old walking around the house with Rainbow nails. Right thumb is not painted as she sucks it at night and doesn't like the tasteWink

SueChef · 13/03/2015 19:01

Not for an event. For a random Tuesday afternoon in cheapy peely children's varnish, probably

Charlotte3333 · 13/03/2015 19:02

Only if it went with their outfit. I only have boys but have painted their nails when they've asked. A few years back we went to my cousins wedding, big posh do in a fancy church. Looked down at DS1 (who was wearing open-toed sandal shoes at it was summer) and he lad lovely bright red toenails from a few days previous I'd forgotten (DH had to dress him as I was a bridesmaid). DS1 was chuffed to bits with his pedicure and spent the day showing it off to the vicar and his wife.

Sally forth and paint the children. Nails and all.

MetellaEstMater · 13/03/2015 19:03

Yes. DD (4) loves to have painted nails or nail stickers. No harm in it.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 13/03/2015 19:09

Yes I would. It's a bit of fun.

ShelaghTurner · 13/03/2015 19:13

Yes but I tend to stick to silver or the like for dd1's nails. Don't know why, just looks more suitable for children in my weird little head!

CaTsMaMmA · 13/03/2015 19:14

if they asked i would, and have. DS2 esp loved to have his toenails painted.

tried to do it himself once, managed to get the lid undone, and daubed polish all down himself. Really gave dh a turn as it was red, he thought small boy had sliced an artery.

meglet · 13/03/2015 19:14

yes if they wanted it.

lem73 · 13/03/2015 19:15

Yes but maybe not in teal.

DisappointedOne · 13/03/2015 19:17

I do 4 year old (thumb sucking) DD's all the time, in any colours she wants.

DisappointedOne · 13/03/2015 19:17

WTF is wrong with teal?!

OhisHOME · 13/03/2015 19:20

I just can't decide I've done her toes when I do mine but it just seems to much

OP posts:
ApocalypseThen · 13/03/2015 19:33

Yes, if she asked. I wouldn't suggest it. I would be inclined to steer clear of adult colours and stick to childish blues, yellows, greens, purples. Nothing glamorous or sexual.

OhisHOME · 13/03/2015 19:34

I need to go shopping in the morning abywAy so I've managed to keep her happy with the promise that I'll buy her her own colour then

OP posts:
FeijoaSundae · 13/03/2015 19:37

Yes, but only at her request, I wouldn't suggest it, which means probably not for a specific event.

I've never painted my 4YO DD's nails, but she's had two au pairs that paint her nails, usually lots of bright colours and patterns all at once, which is pretty harmless.

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/03/2015 19:43

I would (and do, in whatever colour DD fancies)

She's currently sporting a different colour on each nail

Purplepoodle · 13/03/2015 19:58

Yep preferably glittery and sparkly. Don't think I'd go teal

keepsmiling2015 · 13/03/2015 20:08

If they want it

ElizabethLemon · 13/03/2015 20:10

I've just painted my 4yo's nails at his request, in a nice mauve colour!

PrincessOfChina · 13/03/2015 20:13

I only do DD's in the peel off stuff as I don't like to use remover on them.

She's had her toe nails painted pretty much permanently for the last year.

guest2013 · 13/03/2015 20:14

Adult and sexual nail varnish colours?! Ha! Only on mumsnet Grin
