It's my day off. I worked sat and Sunday

I've got up and made packed lunch and saw dd. Off. Pegged a load of washing out. Put a new load on..Washed up from last night..showered. sorted out the faulty broadband ( 40 mins on the phone ) pegged another load out, put more on. Got petrol. Gas. Weekly food shop. Went and got shoes for dd. Birthday present for her friends party. Mothers day stuff. Pet stuff. 5 shops in 5 locations.

Just home, had lunch..got last bit of washing to do, shopping to get away. Will hopefully put some of the clean laundry away. Dinner to cook and sort out. Take dd to amd from cubs later (.15 mins each way )

just had a comment that I'm being ' lazy '

I've got a task I keep meaning to do that I just don't get round to, just been told that if I stopped being lazy I would get it done. And that it's my day off so no excuse.

so. am I lazy?

Joolsy · 09/03/2015 13:19

No you're certainly not! That sounds alot like my day 'off'. Who told you that?

jemstipp · 09/03/2015 13:20

Ehhhhhh not in the least. You've got your priorities. If there's a problem with the task and it's so important to the commentator, let them do it. Either that or feck everything else, do the task and see how that goes

sliceofsoup · 09/03/2015 13:21

What is the task?

No, you have not been lazy today, but that does not mean that you have not been lazy when it comes to that one task.

I am very lazy. So I feel very qualified to answer about laziness. :o

MrsPresley · 09/03/2015 13:21

Well you've done a hell of a lot more than me today!

I don't think your being lazy, but depends what the task is, is it a 5 minute job? Is it fairly important that it gets done?

I need to clear out a drawer, I've been meaning to do it for weeks, but something more interesting or not comes up, so it's still not done. I don't think I'm lazy not doing it I just can't be bothered find other things that are more important!

MildDrPepperAddiction · 09/03/2015 13:23

What 'helpful' person said that? Could they not do this task?

brentonstripeandredlipstick · 09/03/2015 13:25

It's a big job. cleaning out and sorting out the spare room. and I need to sort out the shed too.

I'm a lone parent. work 25 hrs a week bar one week when I work 35.

I worked sat and Sunday. I'm off today and In for the next 3 days. so, had to.do those things today.

The spare bedroom gets pushed back all the time because it's not really important.

but apparently if I was not so lazy I'd get it done.

should say I was just back to work this weekend after almost a month off where I was awfully ill. so probably should be resting still.

OP posts:
Want2bSupermum · 09/03/2015 13:30

You are not lazy just not putting it as a priority. If it is important to you I would tackle one square foot of the room at a time.

Optimist1 · 09/03/2015 13:36

We need to know more about who made this criticism and how they passed their morning today!

TruJay · 09/03/2015 13:39

Not lazy in the slightest. You have done loads more than me today! I have loads of sorting/clearing/decorating jobs to do (the whole house really) but it never gets done as 'life' gets in the way. Just because your spare room needs sorting doesn't mean all the other jobs you have done today suddenly stop needing to be completed.
Get yourself a cuppa and have a sit down and then if you feel up to it crack on with the spare room. I find jobs like that really need a full day focused on them. Also with being so ill for so long I'd give yourself a bit of a rest after doing so much today already.
Tell the person who called you lazy to sod off

Jackieharris · 09/03/2015 13:42

I count that as a very busy day!

NuggetofPurestGreen · 09/03/2015 13:53

So far I have:

Had a shower
Eaten a banana and yoghurt

That's it. You are not lazy OP !

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 09/03/2015 13:58

Today I have:

Got up.
Played with DD (16 months)
Both had breakfast
Popped to sainsburys
Both had lunch
Played with her a bit more
Put her down for a nap
Sat down myself for half a hour

We are moving house in 2 weeks and so far packed nothing, but if anyone suggested I could have done more today if I hadn't been lazy I would be extremely annoyed! I manage my own time, no one else has the right to comment on what I do with it.

Your day sounds extremely productive.

brentonstripeandredlipstick · 09/03/2015 13:58

My mum and a friend said it was lazy .

no way am i going to do it today. In fact I'm going to sit for an hour before I have to do the school run..

don't think I'm going to get the clothes away either. They might have to wait till thur when I get home by 4 rather than 5 tomorrow and Wednesday.

OP posts:
Trooperslane · 09/03/2015 14:01

I'd tell them both to fuck off.

?? and ?? for you.

SoleSource · 09/03/2015 14:13

Yanbu and not lazy! I feel tired reading your OP.

Today I have showered DS, made his breakfast, drove him too school, went to the supermarket, went back to school to take DS's fruit drove home, done two loads of washing, currently hired load on, made sandwich and tea, going to launderette to dry it then fetching DS from after school club.

Cook diner, wash up, watch TV.

SoleSource · 09/03/2015 14:14

Two phone calls also.

RattieofCatan · 09/03/2015 14:18

Shock And I was impressed with myself for managing to go to the garden centre this morning for pet things and then go to my counselling session! Tell them to feck off. Lazy my arse.

HouseAtreides · 09/03/2015 14:22

I have done a lot less than you today and I still consider it a productive day.
Your mum and 'friend' can ram it!

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 09/03/2015 14:25

Not lazy at all. What business is it of you mum and her friend?

sosix · 09/03/2015 14:26

Who said it?

VinoTime · 09/03/2015 14:27

I'm on a day 'off' today. So far, I have:

Woken up.
Sorted dd out - dressed, breakfast, etc.
Taken dd to school.
Put on a dark wash.
Boxed up several hundred DVDs and CDs for a courier to collect and send away to musicMagpie.
Hung up the dark wash and put on another dark wash.
Had a cup of tea and a slice of toast.
Spent three hours ironing.
Put away three hours worth of ironed clothes.
Made a promise to myself not to let the ironing basket get so out of control in the future.
Hung up the second dark wash.
Stripped my bed to wash and changed the covers.
Ran two bags of old toys down to the charity shop.
Called my little sister to make sure she's still alive okay.
And I'm currently on the phone to Talk Talk trying to sort out my phone and broadband package.

I'll need to leave the house in half an hour to collect dd, wander down to the park to walk the dog and exhaust the child for an hour, come home and make dinner and keep on tidying/washing.

Day off my feckin' arse.

You don't sound at all lazy to me, OP. Ignore them Flowers

sosix · 09/03/2015 14:30

What has it got to do with your mum and her friend?Shock

Today I have got up, got dcs off to school, went to tesco, made lunch, had a nap with 2 year old . Im feeling a bit under the weather

brentonstripeandredlipstick · 09/03/2015 14:31

vino, I'd say that's busy too.

OP posts:
DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 09/03/2015 14:31

I was just back to work this weekend after almost a month off where I was awfully ill.

I wonder what support they gave during that time. You seem to be doing plenty! You don't have to justify how you spend your time so ignore this kind of remark.

babygiraffe86 · 09/03/2015 14:34

I've been meaning to sort out our spare room since Xmas weekend,

other than wash the bedding I haven't touched it.

Why does it matter - its spare it doesn't get used :)

DP says I've had a lazy day when I have a day off work even though I do all the washes, hoovering clean house etc. just the spare room seems like too much of a chew on!

I'd bloody love the same kind of day off as DP has - not move off the sofa unless for food or toilet!
