It's my day off. I worked sat and Sunday

I've got up and made packed lunch and saw dd. Off. Pegged a load of washing out. Put a new load on..Washed up from last night..showered. sorted out the faulty broadband ( 40 mins on the phone ) pegged another load out, put more on. Got petrol. Gas. Weekly food shop. Went and got shoes for dd. Birthday present for her friends party. Mothers day stuff. Pet stuff. 5 shops in 5 locations.

Just home, had lunch..got last bit of washing to do, shopping to get away. Will hopefully put some of the clean laundry away. Dinner to cook and sort out. Take dd to amd from cubs later (.15 mins each way )

just had a comment that I'm being ' lazy '

I've got a task I keep meaning to do that I just don't get round to, just been told that if I stopped being lazy I would get it done. And that it's my day off so no excuse.

so. am I lazy?

You're certainly not lazy. I've just got up (work nights) and so far made a cup of tea and looking at mn!! Put your feet up, have a Brew and fuck the task!

OnlyLovers · 09/03/2015 15:11

They're a pair of twats.

jemstipp · 09/03/2015 15:41

Isn't it true though. Men xan sit on their arse on the sofa watching shite on the tv all day without a care in the world. I cant sit down unless the kidsare seen to, the dishes done, the floor hoovered, the washing on, beds made etc etc and even then I'm thinking about what I could be doing instead of enjoying my coffee. Typical.

tilliebob · 09/03/2015 15:44

That sounds like my day "off" that I've just described on another thread. I'd tell anyone who called me lazy to fuck right off. Then I'd promptly sit on my arse for the rest of the day. And my next day "off" and see what they think when nothing gets done!

manchestermummy · 09/03/2015 15:47

On my typical day 'off' I:

Put on laundry
Take dc1 to breakfast club.
Take dc2 to school (different schools three miles apart)
Do weekly shop
Put shop away
Get dc2 from school (nursery)
Come home and have lunch
Take dc2 to swimming
Pick up any birthday presents etc as required on way home
Put more laundry on
Pick up dc1 from school
Make dinner for the dc
Take dc1 to music lesson
Either come home or go to the park depending on weather
Pick up dc1 from music lesson
Receive text from dh to tell me he's on the way home
Plonk dc in front of TV
Tidy up like a mad woman
Put dc2 to bed
Say hello to dh
Tell dh to put dc1 to bed so that I can sit down

Dh works late on my day 'off', funnily.

My colleagues think I'm lazy. My parents think I'm lazy. My ILs think I'm lazy.

OP: for all those who are very 'lazily' running a home may I inform you that YANBU!!!!!

Ragwort · 09/03/2015 15:48

In what context did they use the word 'lazy' to you - that is incredibly disrespectful.

However, I often admit that I am having a 'lazy day' like today and my mother also using the same expression as in 'are you having a nice, lazy day?' when she called me yesterday, knowing DH and DS were away for the weekend.

jemstripp - no I don't think that's true, or if it is it's very sad and a bit martyrish. I have absolutely no problem 'relaxing'. Grin.

MissDuke · 09/03/2015 15:57

Even if you had lay on the sofa all day, no one has the right to call you lazy! You have been ill, and aside from that, everyone is allowed a day off without it making them lazy!

iklboo · 09/03/2015 16:04

I've got a feeling they don't mean lazy but are too thick unable to think of an appropriate word (because there isn't one).

brentonstripeandredlipstick · 09/03/2015 16:07

Mum said if I was less lazy and ' cracked on with things ' I'd get more done. my list if things I've done in the free school hours I've had are not enough apparently.

my friend said I'm lazy because I haven't got everything done. However she has a cleaner!

It's just after 4pm and I'm still in my pjs.

MinceSpy · 09/03/2015 16:48

Perhaps the person who felt it was their place to judge and pronounce you lazy would like to pop round tomorrow and show you how it's done? Pull up a nice comfy chair, grab note pad and a cuppa, observe and maybe take notes or even just doodle.

And what was your response?
