To think the fat on bacon should be crispy or cut off

Just that really must get a life. My Mum likes her bacon sarnies with fat left on but not crispy. It looks hideous & the texture makes me want to gag.
So AIBU?

I usually buy back bacon & it has to be smoked. Streaky could be nice if it was crisped to within an inch of its life.

YANBU. The fat is the best bit when crispy, but ruins the whole thing if it's all chewy and rubbery.

I will only eat the bacon and the fat if it's all crispy!

Can't bear half-cooked bacon - it must be properly done.

I'm considering lobbying parliament to pass a law about it actually.

And eateries who do not cook their bacon correctly will be prosecuted.

yabu. i like the squidgy fat. My family all cut every scrap off and i eat it. Dad gets angry because he says it should be left for the dog also he purposely cooks her an extra sausage/rasher of bacon when he does himself one Hmm

pref crispy but soggy also has its appeal.

I confess to still eating raw bacon fat! Mmmmmmmmm.

Those who miss proper rind - you have to go and buy proper made-by-the-butcher bacon.

YANBU! Especially since the other day when eating bacon i almost choked on a string of rubbery fat.
Managed to get my fingers to back of my throat eventually and grab it and pull it out, but it was a panicky moment!

ReturnofSaturn I have also experienced choking on bacon fat & think that cemented the fact bacon fat should be crispy.
I remember trying desperately to grab the squidgy, rubbery end, whilst gagging. DH just watched on whilst I grappled with it. Goodness only knows what I must of looked like Shock By the time I had pulled it out I had mascara, tears & saliva running down my face. Not my finest hour!!

Send your Mum round here. She and I can enjoy proper bacon sarnies together. DW insists on bacon being so crisp you can snap it (ugh!).

DW describes my cooking method as:
"Bacon, here's the pan."
"Pan here's the bacon."
"OK that's long enough where's the bread?"

YANBU I like my bacon near enough cremated.

First time poor DP ever made me a bacon sandwich I cried because the bacon was so floppy and 'raw', then I cried again because I felt so guilty for not eating his sarnie! In my defence I was having an incredibly stressful time!

MrsTed My Grandma used to send me out with the bacon rind for the birds.

Quick left behind the shed and lovely raw bacon fat. Then I got worms. Sad

I love crispy bacon fat. DH cuts all the fat off his bacon after he's cremated it and offers it to me on bended knee which is the main reason I married him.

YADNBU. I actually run a bacon sandwich shop (yes really) and therefore believe to be the authority on the matter [puffs up like a chicken]
99% of people prefer their bacon to have crispy fat or no fat.

If I enjoy a cooked breakfast in company I always have a Shock face to see their empty plate whilst mine has the fat neatly placed to the side..

This is why I don't miss British bacon. US bacon is basically all streaky. Crisps up beautifully.

YANBU. Crispy or not there is the only way to have bacon fat.

And it has to be manuka smoked middle rashers with the rind cut off.

(You can't get unsmoked bacon here - it's just not available. Smoked or smoked!)
