Me and my 2 dc (3&4) arrived at my parents house to find them out. Car on drive so they must have got a bus sonewhere. New bus passes are still a novelty. Anyway, kids were disappointed and it was lunchtime. So i made them lunch from food in the cupboard after playing with their bikes in the garden. Anyway, dd wanted a dvd on. Somehow ive managed to jam the dvd in the slot. It wont budge or play. Shall i clean up and run? Pretend they have a ghost? Im thinking the only flaw in my plan is my dd has used my f's newspaper to practice letter writing. Hmm....

If you find out how to get the disc out of the slot, let me know will you? I've got one jammed in my PC.

Meanwhile, start practising your best abject apology face. Best of luck Smile

I used tweezers to skilfully extract a an extra disc that my 2-yo stuck in the wii...

CuddlesfromChickens · 18/02/2015 12:30

Grovel, buy flowers and chocolates.

pigglewiggle · 18/02/2015 12:30

Dvd players are so cheap, you virtually get them free with a tank of fuel. Fess up.

LlamaLove · 18/02/2015 12:31

Buy a replacement newspaper. Clean up and go. Enroute home take the kids somewhere good and fun they wont forget like a zoo.

Then when the kids speak to their Grandparents next they will say "on Wednesday we went to the zoo".

Clearing you totally!

Thudercatsrule · 18/02/2015 12:32

I've done that! Can you find a screwdriver and remove the top, you can push it out that way! But, maybe it was broken already??

CalleighDoodle · 18/02/2015 12:36

Brilliant! Will look for tweezers first. Its a dvd in the tv, so more expensive :(

Try switching the whole thing off for a couple of minutes. Then when you power up again, the system might recognise that the dvd tray is jammed, and open it up.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 18/02/2015 13:37

Tweezers are your friend. They may have left a dvd in themselves hence the jamming. I removed 5 discs from our wii with tweezers (thanks Dts). So fingers crossed for you.

SweetsForMySweet · 18/02/2015 13:45

Don't forget to unplug the dvd player before sticking a metal object in there!Wink I think if you leave and they get the dvd player fixed, they will know by the dvd stuck inside that it was your dc and you (not Casper) that caused the damage. Get your dc to own up, gp don't usually get mad at gc muchSmile

EpicBlue · 18/02/2015 13:52

So they were out and you helped yourself to their food etc and want to just leave?! I wouldn't dream of doing that at my parents house, I think you need to confess.

GahBuggerit · 18/02/2015 13:57

"So they were out and you helped yourself to their food etc and want to just leave?"

I've been to my ma's and had a shower using her lovely Fenjal stuff before now. I blamed it on my Dad, always said he was a bit effeminate Grin

Firesidetreat · 18/02/2015 14:01

I'd fess up. They won't get mad at their DGC.

My grown up children are welcome to help themselves to anything they like in my house.

GahBuggerit · 18/02/2015 14:05

I should add me and my parents do have keys to each others house and let ourselves in all the time to borrow stuff, drop things off etc.

Its just my mum's a bit funny about her Fenjal Hmm

acjfluff · 18/02/2015 14:07

Have you read CatThiefKeith's thread? Light some candles, leave and blame a neighbour...

musicalendorphins2 · 18/02/2015 14:08

Maybe bake them a cake, and leave it in the kitchen. With a greeting on top...
"Mum & Dad! My 2 bff"s I

Eh, I always go round to make food at my parents. They can afford nicer food then I can.

My dad mentioned they were having lasagne for tea on Thursday so I will be letting myself in at lunch to liberate the leftovers.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 18/02/2015 14:26

I would also let myself into my dad's house, eat his food and use his DVD player! Id probably confess if we'd broken something think, they'll definitely forgive their DGC Smile.

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 18/02/2015 14:34

My parents would be really sad if they thought that I wouldn't go in to their house while they are/aren't there and borrow stuff/make food/whatever I like! I only have small children currently, but I know that when they have 'flown the nest,' they will be absolutely encouraged to come back whenever they like, my home will always be their home, regardless of whether they have their own homes or not!

With regards to the DVD player, I like the cake idea that musical suggested! Even better if it is actually baked by DGC! They'll forgive you in a heartbeat Grin

Mintyy · 18/02/2015 14:36

I am all ears at this thread!

Bettercallsaul1 · 18/02/2015 14:40
