Me and my 2 dc (3&4) arrived at my parents house to find them out. Car on drive so they must have got a bus sonewhere. New bus passes are still a novelty. Anyway, kids were disappointed and it was lunchtime. So i made them lunch from food in the cupboard after playing with their bikes in the garden. Anyway, dd wanted a dvd on. Somehow ive managed to jam the dvd in the slot. It wont budge or play. Shall i clean up and run? Pretend they have a ghost? Im thinking the only flaw in my plan is my dd has used my f's newspaper to practice letter writing. Hmm....

I wouldn't do it at my mum's house though, mainly because I don't have a key and and she never has any food in anyway!

According to Yahoo for a TV/DVD combo unit
Ok look at the DVD drawer carefully , you will see a tiny hole , this hole is expressly to eject the DVD when the electronic eject has failed . Take an ordinary paper clip and straighten it out . now insert the clip into the hole and press , this will release the drawer mechanism and with it your lost DVD Too easy !!!

thank you so much. the dvd came right out. scratched all to heck and back but it will be ok.

You need to find a child of about eight and tell them that they Must Not get the dvd out, then leave them alone for half an hour. Voila, problem solved.

Sometimes theres a tiny hole that a paperclip can go in that will release the drawer....

Couldnt find the tweeers so ran...

Anyway my dad phoned earlier and asked if we had been as the paper was written on. My dd immediately told him about the dvd and he looked at it. Seems it just needed the setting changing! Hurrah!

All's well...

I remember a friend's toddler who stuck a banana in the DVD slot. That went down well.

Must check Gransnet to see if there's an 'AIBU my DD let herself in, ate our food, drew on the newspaper, helped herself to the iPad and broke the DVD player'
