Loads of lemongrass in the garden, maybe I could infuse some of that?

Or clementines, I have loads of them?

Probably pointless to ask if you have limes ?? :)

At a push, orange juice - squeezed from an orange, not out of a carton might be okay ?

youbethemummylion · 17/02/2015 17:15

What are you cooking?

LaChatte · 17/02/2015 17:16

Sadly no limes either. Just realised this is AIBU not chat, oops!

OP posts:
catsmother · 17/02/2015 17:16

Yeah - try the clementines

LaChatte · 17/02/2015 17:18

It's for the pancakes! I can't believe I didn't put them on the list for making pancakes, it's a bit like making spaghetti bologna isle and forgetting the tomato sauce.

I think clementine juice would be really nice, it wouldn't taste like lemon though.

I wouldn't use lemongrass, but then I genreally don't like the stuff anyway.

DeliciousMonster · 17/02/2015 17:19

As part of my teaching job, we teach students to make pancakes and one student was 100% convinced and would not be moved that it was orange juice that you put on pancakes, not lemon. So go for it.

Bit jealous that you have loads of lemongrass in the garden.

LaChatte · 17/02/2015 17:22

I planted loads of the stuff years ago and have only every used it once, it's thriving. I also have a lemon tree, but I had the last ripe lemon off it at lunch time to make houmous.

Germgirl · 17/02/2015 17:22

Are you in the UK LaChatte ?
Is it possible to grow lemongrass here?
And yes, I'd use the clementines. Their juice is lovely, or Nutella?

funnyossity · 17/02/2015 17:22

A bit of grated apple would give sharpness.

LaChatte · 17/02/2015 17:23

I'm in France, but in theory it grows well in the UK too (well, in the south anyway).

DS prefers orange juice squeezed on his. Makes them a bit sweeter I guess...

Limer · 17/02/2015 17:27

Nutella or maple syrup

LaChatte · 17/02/2015 17:27

Ok, so, clementine juice, grated Apple and brown sugar it is!

If not, I have some nice jams, that should be ok shouldn't it?

If that fails, Germ has it: Nutella.

You could go a bit crepe Suzette with the Clementines. Maybe reduce the juice a bit.

Warning: I know very little about cooking. Don't know why I am spouting this advice. Just want to talk about pancakes really. I am all the pancake threads!

SummerHouse · 17/02/2015 17:31

I am on all the pancake threads.

pippop1 · 17/02/2015 17:33

Would a splash of a dry white wine work?

LaChatte · 17/02/2015 17:33

Fuck the lemons, I've just realised I've got bananas and rum!

OP posts:
LaChatte · 17/02/2015 17:38

but yeah, clementines, apple and sugar for the DCs.

Lozzapops · 17/02/2015 17:44

I love orange juice and sugar on pancakes, so I think the clementines are a good bet.

emwithme · 17/02/2015 17:46

I am strangely weird anyway but I love balsamic vinegar on pancakes.

Bakeoffcake · 17/02/2015 17:48

I was going to suggest jam-it tastes lovely on pancakes.

ilovemargaretatwood8931 · 17/02/2015 17:55

Butter and sugar mmmmmm! Quite French, very delicious!
