Your friends text asking why you're not at the wedding yet and it dawns on you that you have an evening invite and they are all invited to the day. AIBU to feel hurt?

Would you still go?

Munchkin - Everything you say is completely right and the OP did graciously accept her invite and want to go. So far so lovely.

But, then to find out on the day that you're the only one in the group to be excluded from the wedding service you'd still feel "delighted"? Honestly, you'd be fine with that? You wouldn't wonder why you'd been singled out? Perhaps I'm a bit over sensitive but this would upset me.

Like you, I have sometimes been invited to just the evening celebration and been pleased to have been invited and gone along and had a lovely time and not given a second thought to who had been there all day and who hadn't. However, this is a bit different. OP clearly thought that the Bride thought as much of her as she did the rest of their group but this snub indicates that she doesn't.

Like a few PPs, I can't help feeling that it might have been a cock-up with the invitations, and when the bride said "thank you for coming", she might not have noticed that the OP hadn't been there during the day. But who knows?

Some years ago, when a friend got married at a registry office she had to limit the numbers invited to the ceremony because of lack of space. So, from 'her side', she chose to only invite her 'hens' and their OHs - but all guests were invited to the reception immediately afterwards.

At least u got an evening invite. His happen to myself and oh. All OH friends invited and oh got nothing. Kept getting texts about it as everyone assumed we would be invited. To make it worse the bride and groom came to our wedding

Evening invites are rubbish. Went once and would never again. Everyone's pissed and in the swing of things and you feel very out of step with it all. However I would still probably go in this situation as you did accept.

A couple in our friendship group are getting married in the summer. My DP has been invited all day, I've only been invited to the evening!!

FruChristerOla · 09/02/2015 09:01

That sucks Gem. I'm ancient and two-tier weddings were unheard of in my day, although obviously they're popular now - but to split a couple that way just seems downright odd.
