I jest in the title, but seriously I keep getting this a lot as I've turned into an obsesively healthy eater and addicted to exercise in th last year.

Every time I hear it I just hear "you used to look awful but are looking a bit better now". Aibu to think you just shouldn't comment on someone's apearence?

If you do post a picture, do you want us to say you look shit or fabulous?

LastOneDancing · 06/02/2015 21:31

Don't you find though, some people are really good looking and then you get to know them and they're massively up their own arse, and as if by magic they are no longer as physically attractive? like their nose gets bigger to accommodate their ego or something.

It's a phenomena I have encountered more than once.

Salmotrutta · 06/02/2015 21:33

You are GabbyLogon.

Go on.

Admit it.

QueenofallIsee · 06/02/2015 22:28

I am not stalking you and I am not a 'fan' but I do think you are a massive bellend. As you were

.......Oh, if you want me I will be gazing at my own fabulousness and wishing oh so hard that I was as totes amazing as the OP clearly is cough..bellend...cough

HootyMcTooty · 06/02/2015 22:45

I want a before and after pic. I'll promise to tell you you look no different/worse if you insist it will make you feel better?

pepperfish · 07/02/2015 07:27

YANBU, I lost 2 stone for my wedding a few years ago, taking me to a size 10/12 (I'm 5ft2"). The number of people (friends, family, even clients at work) who told me I looked 'gaunt' and that I had gone 'too far' really pissed me off!

Also - the constant 'encouragement' to eat cake, sweets, junk (mostly by collegues at work) really hacked me off. It's surprising how people really like to bring others down!

Shockers · 07/02/2015 07:36

I used to look in the mirror and see a slim and beautiful girl gazing back at me.

But at some point I must have eaten her.

This exactly! Other people at work can't stand someone that has some self control and constantly try make them fail. Or call you a bore because you won't eat shit junk food! If food is the excitement in someone's life...oh dear.

I think there is a serious point to be made here though. My family are all naturally skinny. One of my DiLs comes from a family who are much larger.

Last year my DiL lost a lot of weight and I was never sure whether to compliment her or not. I would only do it when we were alone, but never was sure if I said the right thing.

If food is the excitement in someone's life ...oh dear

It could be down to mental health problem and/or eating disorder.

How nice of you Hmm

lljkk · 07/02/2015 11:06

I don't like OP's last post about ppl trying to undermine... but in 1st post: I know where OP is coming from, I get this whenever I get my hair cut. All I can think is "Gosh, how awful did my hair look Before?" Polite chitchat reply, I guess.

ChippingInGluggingOn · 07/02/2015 11:21

You are part of the reason MN is going downhill.

Find somewhere else to be a right royal pain in the arse.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 07/02/2015 11:22

Hilarious Grin

and have a few -fans- who seem to stalk me

dhdjdbrjrkbr · 07/02/2015 11:26

God if you so offended by the one or two posts I make a day stop replying to them rather than making personal snide digs. Just making yourself look childish.

MightyMightyToros · 07/02/2015 11:42

You really don't come across nice at all.

I bet you're one of those diet bores too.

tinklykeys · 07/02/2015 11:52

It's a hard life when you can't give someone a compliment without offending them.

Here's how the conversation should go,

'Wow, op you look fabulous today!'
'Thank you so much, it's really kind of you to say so.'

Done!

Maybe have a little more faith in human nature op...

QueenofallIsee · 07/02/2015 12:47

Your posts are incredible banal and about rubbish so nothing to be offended about, just provoke the thought of 'Good Lord, thank Christ I don't have to hear that drivel in real life' - you are clearly someone who posts just for a reaction, either than or you have a staggering lack of self awareness. In any case to suggest that I am offended implies that you are saying something worthy of debate when actually its all just 'look at me being a twat, look at me, LOOK AT ME'. You must not get enough attention at home.

florentina1 · 07/02/2015 12:48

Yes it is a hard life, for people who have low self-esteem.

Wow you look fabulous today.... Some people would be upset at the surprise note.

It Would be wonderful if everyone was brimming with self-confidence. I believe that being sensitive to how someone might perceive your remark is a good thing, even if you mean it as a compliment.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 07/02/2015 12:53

Pmsl at this. HOWEVER, im dating atm and on dates ive had 3 men (different dates. I wasnt setting up some group sex thing) saying more than one how attractive i am. I found it creepy.

ourglass · 07/02/2015 14:10

Not offended as such, sad for people that will read that comment and suffer further.

Now, run along and admire yourself in the mirror.

scarletforya · 07/02/2015 14:14

You again?

I think they're jealous of your modesty op.
