to hide the chocolate?

DP found it hidden in the cupboard and called me pathetic
I mean, I make sure they have chocolate and snacks, not my fault the greedy bastards loving family of mine eat it all on the same day is it?

You shouldn't have to hide food

Just tell them it's yours and they need to respect that.

Dont hid the chocolate- it sets a bad example for children. Chocolate is nothing to be ashamed of. Everything in moderation.

I used to live with a person with bulimia. All the food was hidden- she thought it stemmed from her mother who was a food hider as well.

To clarify- her mother hid special food. She then valued that food and wanted it but felt guilty when she found it and ate it. As an adult she then hid all 'bad' food and ate it in secret.

Probably much more complex than that- but that as how she saw it- special food was always hidden as a child.

FFS - you lot can be devoid of imagination at times. If you have 2 teenagers (or more) in a house - yes, yes ,yes to hiding the freakin' chocolate (and salt and vinegar crisps etc etc) and no - it doesn't mean that you're pathetic or bulimic etc..

Find a better hiding place OP and make sure your rude DP doesn't find it!!

I tell my DH where the goodies are, as he is not the culprit who can eat us out of house and home.

my husband called me tight for not sharing my birthday chocolates with him.... damn right! 'momma don't share chocolate!'....

I buy treats each week and everyone has their share in a separate box, not my fault if they are all greedy pigs who can't leave some for later in the week...

hiding chocolate is basic survival, I do the same with cider and red wine :D

I hated the fact that hiding anything made me feel guilty about food but found it totally bloody infuriating if I went to get something and it had all been troughed. The solution was that I have a space in a drawer which I said was MINE, MINE, ALL MINE! Anything put in there was not for general consumption and there would be hell to pay if anyone nicked it. Apart from one or two occasions it always worked

Incidentally to those saying their DH is not the problem. Mine always said he wasn't yet chocolate biscuits still vanish even when the DCs went off to university (much to their amusement!)

I am not too bothered about chocolate but I hide grapes sometimes as, if I wash them and put them in a bowl on the table, DH grabs a handful absentmindedly every time he goes past (which is often as he works from home) then, when I go to get some later there is just a sad stalk!

Same if I buy myself some naice jam as DH will slather it on his toast like it's cheapo value strawberry stuff and there will be none left for me when I fancy some a week later.

I know he has his own secret (well, he thinks it is secret!) stash in the bottom drawer of the filing cabinet in his home office so we are even!

I hide my chocolate behind all the veggies in the salad drawer of the fridge! No danger of my DP looking in there! Grin

DH has always asked if he can eat anything (unless it's been given to him as a gift) after the great pear-eating disaster circa 1991 when he, who hardly ever helps himself to fruit, ate a pear I needed for a particular recipe, friends were coming, I didn't know until it was too late Grin

DS usually asks unless it's biscuits/crackers/malt loaf, all of which are fair game as snacks. He did text yesterday to check he was allowed to eat a tin of chick peas as a snack after opening it Hmm
