It is pretty impressive that a modern politician would go on such an... unregimented show. And live, as well, they could have done all sorts of shit!

Wish that they could have asked some proper questions while he wasnt in full on politico mode though. He did well on the tv debates before the last election, doesnt mean too much at the end of the day.

He didn't exactly get a fair deal with that 30 seconds which was a shame, he deserved his 30 seconds for putting up with it with good grace.

I know what you mean, beavington, but I guess they had to make a call whether to go for 'serious' questions or try and do something a bit more random and unpredictable.

I suppose the risk is if you ask a serious question you will get his standard pre-fab answer which is not the vibe they were going for.

Hmm. I thought he looked really uncomfortable and, well, I don't really get why he was there. He couldn't say anything controversial, nor could he really laugh at any of the jokes. I thought it was all a bit pointless.

I enjoyed it, especially the Boris comment.

Really? I thought he was very funny, and he did call Boris Johnson a twat, say he'd avoid Farage at all costs, and appeared genuinely upset about the things his party had had to back down on.

I thought he came across really well. It was very funny.
I did think it was a shame that he didn't get longer to persuade Alex to vote, but I was impressed with his Nandos argument.

I love The Last Leg so so much.

Clegg's very good at appearing normal on telly. He doesn't have Cameron's condescending manner or Millibands awkwardness. He's got to slag off the Tories a bit so that he can uncoalition himself. He has very little to lose.

I always think clegg looks like the kinda guy who'd be quite decent if he was spin-loaded with political codswallop 24 hours a day.

I thought he was very brave for going on - the Last Leg would not be the top of the list for the vast majority of politicians and to give him his due he coped very well with the constant digs re uni fees. Can't even imagine Miliband even considering to do any show like this and obviously Cameron won't as there would be nothing nice said at all!

I agree he's got nothing to lose. He came across really well. However, I'm still angry with him as I voted lib den last time and I feel let down.

And it looked like he didn't know what the questions would be in advance, otherwise he wouldn't have kept interrupting Alex to ask about persuading him to vote.

Well, I think he made the only point he could on that, LokiBear, that he wasn't PM and only had 9% of the UK's MPs and there was a limit to what he could do.

Not sure why they kept trying to push him on whether he'd prefer a coalition with Tories or Labour, the LDs would obviously be more at home in a left-wing coalition, but it will depend on the electoral maths so not really up to NC.

I enjoyed watching, but found it very concerning that the deputy priminister, was at a complete loss as to the figure for the deficit. Given how important this deficit is and is rolled out 24-7 as the excuse for spending cuts.

Politicians do tend to trot out percentages rather than actual figures when they're asked, he might have just had that % in his head. I can forgive him for that one - doing a live show like that must be very different to doing a live interview or debate. Alex Brooker's talking/interview style is a bit all over the place.
I was very impressed that he went in for the whole show not just as a small guest spot and joined in with everything (I think he ran across to the fruit bowl a little too quickly though ).

I think clegg will take the most risks re publicity in the run up to the general election. He has nothing to lose - after all, only somebody with half a brain cell would vote for a man who has made it abundantly clear he his happy to renege on his party's main pre-election commitments provided be gets his own personal shot at power. twat
