Just had asda deliver, 5 subs.
One red wine for another, not the end of the world, but PANEER unavailable so they've sent me PHILADELPHIA!

Think my veg and paneer curry won't be happening this week.
Care to share your worst subs?

OP posts:
ILovePud · 20/01/2015 17:41

Asda once sent me a pork pie instead of a vegetarian ready meal.

Fatstacks · 20/01/2015 17:53

Started low carb yesterday.
Did a shop, delivered today these are honest subs.
Swede x 2 > spring greens x 2
Baby cauli x 2 > spring greens x 3
Asparagus > spring greens
Mange tout > broccoli
Runner beans > broccoli
Green beans > broccoli
Celery > extra special broccoli
Celeriac > white cabbage
Turnip x 2 > white cabbage x 4???

I rang customer service to enquire wtf was going on with the bloody cabbage.
I think the picker got pissed off when stood by the cabbage and just thought yeh we don't have any of that I'll just give her cabbage. ...

Thoughtfulduck · 20/01/2015 18:13

Ha! Looks like it's broccoli, cabbage and spring grebes all week then fatstacks Wink I once ordered foundation in ivory, they substituted not only a different brand but the darkest shade too Hmm

YouTheCat · 20/01/2015 18:15

Well I'll not be standing downwind of Fatstacks if she's going to eat all that cabbage. Grin

ChristmasMarketCrazy · 20/01/2015 18:17

toothpaste in place of tampons

Idontneedanotherhero · 20/01/2015 18:19

Sent me a lime instead of a lemon! Wtf?

Fatstacks · 20/01/2015 18:21

I returned the surplus cabbage,
I like it as much as the next woman but there is a limit Smile

Hovis2001 · 20/01/2015 18:21

Herbs always seem to cause problems. Instead of substituting, say, cut basic with growing basil or dried basil, we get rosemary. Hmm

Hovis2001 · 20/01/2015 18:24

I also get unreasonably irritated when they substitute, say, a 2-pack of avocadoes for a single loose avocado. I know that technically the pack is a "single item" but I then don't have enough in spite of paying the same amount as I'd intended to for two?!

Sprucegoose · 20/01/2015 18:25

Asda gave me four bottles of sweet chilli sauce instead of a bottle of sake...

mrspremise · 20/01/2015 22:20

Tesco once gave me frozen fish fingers instead of fresh squid Hmm

SauvignonBlank · 20/01/2015 22:25

Chardonnay subbed for Sauvignon Blanc - sent back obviously ! This lead to a near serious wine emergency in my house.

Tesco is usually the best online service because you can elect for no subs or give instructions as to what you want and what not to send.

Up to now I've come out on top e.g. ordered Tesco own brand tonic and got Fever Tree v expensive tonic instead and price matched

DoreensEatingHerSoreen · 20/01/2015 22:31

FatStacks your list made me laugh out loud Grin

Nappies were always a pain, instead of substituting for a different brand / type which would have been fine, I'd always get the brand I'd chosen but in a completely different size, often useless.

Not a substitution, but once a bag has split and a load of my fruit and veg had rolled out into the crate, as he was picking it all up, the delivery boy looked very concerned and said "this apple doesn't look too good"

It was an onion Grin

desperatedino · 20/01/2015 22:33

I had an annoying one today, I ordered some toffee sauce to go on some waffles and they substituted it with a box of wafer ice cream cones.

WhistlingPot · 20/01/2015 22:42

Not a substitute but my Christmas order did not contain two of the rather vital bags of veg I ordered (parsnips, potatoes etc). I did however have a very random Band Aid CD that I most definitely did not order in one of the other bags.

Confused

On the plus side there was an extra bottle of bubbly which kind of made up for it!

Redglitter · 20/01/2015 22:43

I got a large box of Maltesers instead of 4 tiger rolls Hmm

TiredButFine · 20/01/2015 23:02

I got my plain Alpro yoghurt highlighted as subsituted with Alpro Yoghurt-plain, first time I've ever had an ideal substitution as it was exactly what I ordered although there was a crumpled up wrapper and chicken breasts in the bag too, which I didn't order but got for free

chocolateorsalad · 21/01/2015 00:01

Once ordered prawn crackers and got Skips. Both prawn flavour I suppose so I can see the connection... Confused

Nibledbyducks · 21/01/2015 00:15

once had two packs of sausage rolls subbed with two tubs of spreadable lurpack Hmm Hmm

ilovevenice · 21/01/2015 00:30

I had 3 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc substituted by Pinot Noir on Tesco Click and Collect. SauvignonBlank - I would definitely have preferred Chardonnay!
The child young lad who handed over the shopping couldn't understand what my problem was...

LisaMed · 21/01/2015 09:07

I once had a pack of size three nappies substituted for size four nappies. I looked at the driver, then at my toddler, and said that I didn't think he would shrink by the time I came to use them. The driver nearly cried laughing.

It was a delivery at a holiday self catering cottage so it was a bit of a challenge working out where to get the right nappies, but we weren't at the back of beyond so it wasn't a crisis.

I was told by one driver that it was a computer that made the substitution choice. It is sort of reassuring that no human gets it soooo wrong.

quesadillas · 21/01/2015 09:20

Once ordered fish fingers, got multiple packs of salmon fillets, which was pretty good.

gingermopped · 21/01/2015 09:30

my shopping from tesco was delivered yesterday, order 3 pampers newborn nappies, they delivered 3 huggies size 4!
wee bit bit big me thinks for my 6lb baby, lol
