To wonder WTF has happened to Clover?!

I've always bought Clover spread as I think it is very very similar to butter.
Spreads nicely, takes good, everyone happy,

The last tub I've bought is very pale, harder to spread and tastes somehow different, it's not good Shock

Please tell me the fuckers haven't fucked up changed the recipe?
Anyone else noticed?

Those vegetable fat spreads are not good for you, you'd be better off eating actual butter.
No need to keep the fake butter in the fridge, it doesn't decay.

chocolateorsalad · 14/01/2015 15:37

We've recently started using I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, because it's the only spread we've tried that doesn't massacre the bread. Used to love Clover.

update

Dairy crest, the clover people have emailed this morning, they have made no change to Clover and think I maybe had a 'bad batch'

They say there is a voucher in the post Hmm

Final Update:

I received a letter explaining that they couldn't see a reason for the oddness of my Clover and vouchers for 2 tubs of Clover,

Will be interesting to see if the Clover is back to normal, I've not bought any since the tub of doom!

Nah, they have definitely changed it! I'm not buying the 'bad batch' thing. I have switched back to butter as Clover no longer gives me the butter taste that I love. I bought it because it was healthier as it is made from buttermilk (not vegetable) so it tasted spot on. It doesn't now...at all.

BuzzardBird · 23/01/2015 18:35

Mine is AL11 02 MAR 15 00:17 so no connection to yours at all.

BuzzardBird · 23/01/2015 18:36

...wait a cockin pippin minute, did it used to have Palm Oil in it? Bloody don't buy anything with palm oil in. Angry

BuzzardBird · 23/01/2015 18:37

Think it used to be 50% buttermilk and now it is 33%. I spy a lie...

BuzzardBird · 23/01/2015 18:39

Switch to Aldi 'Love', no palm oil and more buttermilk...not to mention cheaper.

CyclopsBee · 23/01/2015 18:45

buzzard Iv not kept my old pot but I too am suspicious that they are lying, how very dare they lie to me!
I will try another tub and then e mail again if it's no better Grin

need to get a life

Yeh, but they had put palm oil in, it will never be the same. I won't buy it again and I have bought it for years.

Butter is a very serious issue! Grin

HappyAgainOneDay · 23/01/2015 18:51

I like butter. You can't beat the real thing but it's just fat. Trying to lose weight means you have to look at various things that you eat and try to find substitutes for them except extra thick double cream.

After attending Weightwatchers and succeeding, we tried various low fat spreads, calling them 'scrape,' and finished up with Bertolli olive oil spread.

I do miss hot crumpets with so much butter on them that it oozes out of the underneath.

poocatcherchampion · 23/01/2015 18:54

Winter butter.

Its a terrible problem.. We have lurpak at the mo and it doesn't spread either. Bring on the spring, and proper butter in a butter dish out of the fridge.

sigh

BitOutOfPractice · 23/01/2015 18:55

I've stopped buying any spreads and switched to butter. Keep it out of the fridge. It's fine

icecreamcrackers · 23/01/2015 18:56

I've wrote to them aswell as mine is unspreadable too.

TentUpFirstBunkUpLater · 23/01/2015 18:56

Butter only

We have tried various 'spreads' but it is not the same

That is all

BuzzardBird · 23/01/2015 19:01

Can't believe that so called dieting experts are still suggesting spreads instead of full fat products! Confused

BuzzardBird · 23/01/2015 19:02

And wtf is 'unsalted' butter about? That is the only thing I hate when I go on holiday and sit down to the lovely freshly baked bread and they give you pats of what can only be described as lard to spread on! Angry

heatseeker14 · 23/01/2015 19:14

I have noticed this too it is rock hard and rips bread up...

GlitzAndGigglesx · 23/01/2015 19:23

I've found Bertolli to be the best for actually spreading. I've bought Clover once and had to sit it out for a while before use. Should probably just buy proper butter

CyclopsBee · 23/01/2015 21:04

icecreamcrackers have they replied?

I do have butter on the kitchen table in a dish but in this weather it's rock hard Sad

The smell of unsalted butter makes me gag Buzzard.

Alchemist · 23/01/2015 21:24

Butter all the way for me but DC like the Lurpak spreadable stuff.

It's still not right and tastes "funny".

Lovely salty butter on crumpets or a baked potatoe = heaven on a plate.
