to want an underwired nursing bra?

Am wearing wired ones still in late pregnancy, and can't bear the idea of swapping to a non wired in a few weeks time (bf'd my two kids aged 6&8 and have big boobs, decent support needed!). Anyone know of any decent ones, and if they are true to size given I assume it will be an internet order. Thank you!

The Anita ones are good, I got mine in Rigby and Peller but you can get them on figleaves. You will be a bigger size than normal as AFAIK they don't do double cup sizes, so I was a 32G when I would normally be an E or F, but figleaves tells you how to account for this.

I wouldn't want to lead you astray, and for my first I wore soft cup bras and actually got to like them (boobs looked awful, but it was nice to never have any wires pop out or dig in).

For my second I was much less organised, and I've just stuck with my normal underwired ones all through pregnancy and feeding, and I haven't had a hint of a problem. I too have humungous boobs (lets just say I can wear my bra as a hat), and could even pop one out over the top just by sliding the strap down my shoulder a bit.

YY to the Anita underwired nursing bra. They give a lovely shape and are really supportive.

So glad you started this as I was just moaning to DP about this yesterday! Last pregnancy I used Bravissimo's nursing soft cups but my god my boobs looked like pancakes. Not sure I can do that again this time.

After the first 6mo or so I cut the clips off the old ones and sewed them on the new under wired ones. Job done.

I couldn't get wired ones in my size so wore soft cup for 4 months then like PP I converted wired bras into non wired. It's dead easy, even for a non sewer. If you can thread a needle, you can do it, I promise.

I just bought the Amoralia Luna and I really like it - flexi-wire and lightly padded cups. Wish I'd bloody bought it 16 months ago!

Get some Hot Milk bras! They're not underwired, but they look as though they are, really- they're fantastic. I wanted to keep wearing them after I'd finished bfing. They are really comfy and really supportive. I bf for 35 mo in total, and my breasts aren't a bit saggy.

I just got a couple of elomi ones from figleaves, I find them better than the anita ones tbh, they give me a better shape under clothes and not a hint of monoboob

Easiest - and cheapest - way to get whatever size you need is to get a normal underwired bra and convert it to a nursing bra. Kits cost around a fiver (check Ebay) and it really doesn't take long or any particular sewing skill.

Alternatively, Ewa Michalak do proper underwired nursing bras in a huge range of sizes - I'm about to treat myself to one now my sizing has finally settled down post partum

As already said, buy normal bras and convert. Loads more choice, and a lot cheaper as well.

Anita is OK, but careful with their sizing, they skip double letters, so might not be big enough.

Ewa Michalak as mentioned above are a fab brand and do their maternity bras up to pretty large size (much higher than Anita who are deceiving as they skip double letters so their higehr cup sizes are much smaller than the letter suggests)

This annoyed me too when I tried to get a BF bra on the high street. But I failed to find one online that fitted so I've got used to non under wired.

Thanks all, glad I am not alone! Jojo ones don't go up to my cup size annoyingly, and I suspect I would wreck my normal brad if I tried to change them to nursing ones!! However the Anita ones look good, so I will order. If they skip double letters what does that mean?! I'm in a Panache 34G at the mo (to my horror.)

Basically count up through the sizes? A g is the 9th size in panache, so you will need whatever the 9th is in Anita if that makes sense

OP honestly - look up the videos online of how to convert. It's really easy ... Took me an hour first time and I hadn't sewn in years. You have to cut through the strap but then you put the nursing clips on, so ou can continue to wear them once you've stopped nursing.

YANBU to want wires - in non pregnant life, I'd never be without them! But when you are post-partum and (possibly) breastfeeding, wires are just a source of pain, and possibly blocked milk ducts, which TRUST ME you can def do without. Investigate the Anita bras, they sound good, wish I'd known about them while bf in fact...

I adapted normal bras as most of the wired nursing bras didn't go up to JJ which is what I am now I'm (still) bf. I had some non-wired ones and they just didn't give enough support. The only times I had blocked ducts was in unsupportive non wired bras when the weight of my own boobs was squashing them.

I would really recommend figleaves website. I but underwired nursing bras from them. I like Anita and one or two of hot milk but obviously different brands might work for you so try some out
