To hate Sponge Bob Square Pants?

3yo Dd decided that she loved Sponge Bob after visiting Nickelodeon World at Alton Towers with her Grandparents.
I caved in this morning and put an episode on. So far, someone has been called a moron and another character called a cretin. The way that the characters talk to each other is horrible.
Who writes this stuff for kids?

Spongebob is epic. If we ever get rich enough, I would get Sky for the sole purpose of chain-watching Spongebob

Two of my favourite episodes was the one where Plankton finally found out the secret ingredient of the Krabby Patty. And the one where Spongebob and Plankton become best friends and sing that song

Also, why do SB's parents look like potatoes? Presumably they are also sponges but why are they brown and oval shaped? How did they produce a bright yellow rectangular son?

Oh I loved Spongebob when they watched it. The youngest still likes it. Spongebob does remind me of my eldest a bit though ...

As for Adventure Time, LSP absolutely creases me with laughter every time I see her. Fantastic programme.

If you think SpongeBob is bad, try watching Sanjay and Craig or Breadwinners.

Sanjay & Craig (why do they say Cregg??) is weird. So is Clarence & Steven Universe.

Spongebob is just......annoying.

I used to watch Spingebob with my kids. I used to love that and Powerpuff Girls. It's the live action crap like the Suite Life, Drake and Josh, and Hannah Montana that used to do my head in.

I find it oddly depressing. I have no idea why!

Ooh I love Spongebob. My favourite episode is when he and Patrick go to Glove World and keep missing the bus, or the chocolate salesmen one. Oh and the Christmas episode is fab, and the one where he has The Suds, and the one where Squidward goes to live with all the other Squidwards, and the one where Sandy Cheeks is hibernating..........

My 4 children range from 4 to 18 and they all love spongebob as do I

I love Spongebob. It's so creative. I particularly like the earworm episode with a very visual interpretation of a musical earworm.

Squidward is the best, I agree. My foetus is currently called Squidward.

I love SpongeBob. And Fairly Odd Parents. And Recess. YABU.

My favourite ep is SB-129 that spans the whole of time and ends up as art, pretty much. And is also very funny. C'mon, you've gotta love a kids' cartoon that has the lyrics: "Absorbant and yellow and porous is he" in its opening song.

Am gonna check out Regular Show with the DC tomorrow. Never seen that but sounds great! Cheers for the tip.

YABU. Love spongebob. I miss it now ds only watches Stampy on Youtube. And I remember hearing about 'bob l'eponge' on Mumsnet and chortling like a drain every time I thought about it for hours. I love the Spongebob Movie too.

We used to have an inflatable surf board we bought in Spain with Bob Esponga on it.

I'm so pleased my DC don't watch it any more. I do like Adventure Time, though. Surreal!

My DCs are adults now but spongebob still comes up in conversation. Swear words are always called 'sentance enhancers' and my DC can still recite long bits of dialogue.

We started watching it years and years ago. I thought it was funny but maybe the new shows aren't.

Fave episodes have to be bubble buddy, when he goes to glove world and gets stuck rock bottom, and the fucking musical doodle song, going round and round in my head all day, trying to stop is futile, the sound in my head is brutal, all I can hear is the musical doodle, doo-doo-doo-doo-doo x 417.
