I have come over all nostalgic at the fab smell!
I have tried to be all modern and have savlon and stuff but I'm back to TCP!. Accidental purchase as was bored in hospital. When I was a kid every thing had TCP put on it!

Its Dettol baths next I tell you! :)

NoLongerJustAShopGirl · 31/12/2014 22:54

agree with Duffy 100% - smells foul and lingers FOREVER....

vinegarandbrownpaper · 31/12/2014 22:55

Smile Its cool! Do you think it will be a new ebola-led fragrance trend! Grin

Noooooo, the smell of it makes me gip... I can smell it from here

JeanetteDanielsBenziger · 31/12/2014 22:57

I'd be nostalgic too, My old Granddad used to gargle with TCP.

NoLongerJustAShopGirl · 31/12/2014 22:58

Nooooooooooo - my DH has mouth ulcer and he comes to bed reeking of the stuff, thankfully it works, so it is not often.

Hatespiders · 31/12/2014 23:17

Oh groooo! Absolutely loathe the smell of TCP. Yuk!

TheCowThatLaughs · 31/12/2014 23:19

Reminds me of having my ears pierced as a teenager! I've just remembered a horrible fake gold pair of plait-effect hoop earrings I used to have (and the embarrassment of people telling me I smelt of TCP)

Next few days? Try next few years Grin

iklboo · 01/01/2015 13:10

I can smell it from here!

FayKorgasm · 01/01/2015 13:10

My granny quite aptly called it Tom Cats Piss.

TheReluctantCountess · 01/01/2015 13:13

I like TCP. Op, you are not alone.

parallax80 · 01/01/2015 13:13

Love it! (But I also love the smell of Kreosote)

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/01/2015 13:14

Oh god, no; I can't believe they couldn't make it odourless, while still doing the same job - after all, other antiseptics don't stink like that

My mum used to call it "pensioners' perfume" ... come autumn and the coughs and colds season, and any bus journey round here involves a choking wall of the stuff Sad

ChickyEgg · 01/01/2015 13:23

DD had a whitlow on her toe christmas day. No table salt (only rock salt in a grinder) to make a salt bath with but I remembered the bottle of tcp we bought whilst on holiday (long story). Bathed it in that. did the trick. Fab stuff!

DrCoconut · 01/01/2015 13:39

I accept I will be in the minority but I love both the smell and taste of TCP.

CakeAndWineAreAFoodGroup · 01/01/2015 14:22

TCP! Lovely smell.

Just don't apply it any time soon when going out as not everyone appreciates the fine pong. :)

Bettercallsaul1 · 01/01/2015 14:32

I, too, love TCP and am never without a bottle in my bathroom cupboard! Definitely agree that it has strong nostalgic power: my mother regarded it as a general panacea for all childhood ills ( remember distinctly having it applied neat to burns and cuts! ) and I am now exactly the same. Appalling smell, but part of the security of childhood!

Madamecastafiore · 01/01/2015 14:37

I did not have boyfriends growing up due to the fact that I shunned Impulse and Charlie and bathed in Dettol ??

scissy · 01/01/2015 14:37

Good luck removing the stain... We had to replace a carpet in the end that had a lot of TCP spilt on it as nothing would remove it. Took over a week for the smell to go!

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 01/01/2015 14:41

TCP is gaaaawwwjus. Lagavulin, finest of the single malts, has a distinct hint of it.

londonrach · 01/01/2015 15:45

No yuk horrible smell. Now baby bath oil.... That heaven

Shannaratiger · 01/01/2015 15:49

Will have to buy some - can't believe I have never brought any!
