i just went to the florist it does other bits to like little angels. in loving memory type of messages. when its my dads birthday/ anniversary of his death/xmas etc i always buy him something for his shelf/urn as i keep it at home. i asked do you have any trinklet xmas type things... she said no she does not know what a trinklet is... then i said do you have anything that maybe has christmas colours... she said no.... then i said ok do you have any ideas... she said no... all one word answers she did not even try and help. really pissed me of :( :( so aibu to think she could have at least tried to help or even if she could not at least used a bit of people skills

I would find another florist!!

I found certain ones near me are brilliant and will fall over themselves to help and others just don't give a hoot!

Don't think you mean trinklet. (look it up in urban dictionary)

Trinket is more appropriate. (a small ornament or item of jewellery that is of little value)

Try a different florist.

She doesn't sound terribly helpful or friendly, but I'm not sure I know what a trinklet is either. Having said that, it doesn't take a great deal of effort to reach the assumption that a "trinklet" is a trinket. Nor however would it have taken you much effort to look around the shop and spot something for yourself.

I'm sorry this has made you sad. I always have a few poignant moments at Christmas missing my mum.

She's probably some poor cow on NMW who just wants to get home to her own family instead of being treated like a free personal shopper service by people who CBA to use their eyes and choose their own trinklets.

Ghost, anyone with a modicum of intelligence would have figured out what you were requesting or if they were very thick they could have asked questions to clarify. I'm sorry this happened to you. Please take your custom elsewhere..

Well saucy that doesn't give her the excuse to be an unhelpful, ignorant sod. If she doesn't like it she should let someone else do the job - god knows there's thousands who would.

YANBU. She was very rude. It's irrelevant that she may have been wanting to be at home, she was working in the shop and should have attended to her customer. If she didn't quite understand your query, she could have asked politely what and who it was for and suggested something.
It would have seemed obvious to me that you were seeking a small token in memory of your dad. Lots of people do this at Christmas.

Urrrm. DP is on NMW and works in a pub and gets really annoyed by people umming and ahhing and asking him a million questions about all the drinks and then just ordering a fosters.

They wouldn't know it though. He has a massive smile and is polite and helpful.

My dear friend lost her husband five years ago and every year at this time she gets a 'trinklet' from the very good florists in the grounds of the crematorium. They of course are quite used to all sorts of requests like that and do their best to help. She has a plot for her dh where his ashes are interred, with a plaque, and puts a wreath on the fence beside it and the small arrangement with a 'trinklet' on the ground. This year it's a little plaster angel with some holly and looks very sweet.

On Christmas eve, I can promise you she was probably just utterly exhausted rather than being unhelpful for no reason. Xmas is bloody tough for florists! I've just worked 15 days straight to make sure other people have lovely decorations and gifts. By the time we shut today I was ready to collapse!

Just because someone's having an off day doesn't mean they're a horrible, lazy, unhelpful person. Perhaps we should all cut each other a little slack, in the spirit of the season!

hatespiders the florist is oppisit the crematorium so i would have thought they would be used to it as well. its very close to my house and i have used it a few times.and its been ok. although i had never seen this woman before.
