Silly really, but 'pram-pusher' really annoyed me.

I was in boots the other day at the checkout paying for some stuff. When I arrived it was empty so had my pram next to me. A few people were waiting in line so they opened another till. I honestly wasn't paying much attention, I had left my pram in the way but would happily have moved it, so I was definitely at fault there. However, this woman who was about to be served by the cashier next to me tried to get past, she pushed my pram, but she just made it more awkward and still couldn't get by. Then she starts complaining to me about it. I said if she'd have just said excuse me in the first place I could have moved it for her. I don't know why but I found this so annoying, I wouldn't dream of pushing someone else's pram with baby in it. AIBU?

I think pushed sounds a bit forceful, I'm sure she just moved it slightly so she could use the till.

It's Christmas, shopping now is stressful. You should just be more self aware tbh.

If you were not paying attention you cannot really be sure she did not try and get your attention anyway. So for all you know you may have possibly ignored her and so she slightly moved the pram. To be honest this time of year you will get a lot of stressed people so I would just take what happened with a pinch of salt.

Not looking good for me so far :) The till had literally just opened. And when I say pushed I really mean it, she jammed it against the counter which is why she couldn't get past. It was also in the afternoon so the mall wasn't exactly chocca. Oh well.

YANBU. Pushing someone else's pram is not OK. You should have paid attention but a pram is not a trolley. It's your child. People don't get to touch without permission.

If I needed to get past a pram, I would move it out of the way. Presumably you were busy paying.

I would get annoyed if someone pushed my baby.

I would also push someone else's baby to get to the open register.

I think most people operate the same way. :)

This is one of those small things that drive me crazy. People who stop with their trolleys/pram in the middle of the aisle, or leave their trolleys/prams where someone can't get past. You don't stop your car in the middle of the road, you pull over to the side. You should do the same with your pram/trolley. I wouldn't push someone's pram with a child in it, but I have shoved plenty of stray trolleys out of the way.

Even if the till was shut, you should adhere to normal convention and not block the area.

It really annoys me when people put prams in the way. There's a habit in the street by my DC school for parents to spend ages putting their DC into car seats and blocking the narrow path with their arses.

Pissing about for 10 minutes!

If I had been the woman, I would have just stepped around your pram and baby. It would only have taken a second and I would certainly not had had a moan at you.

It's depressing how arsey and grumpy people are this time of year, being christmas is no excuse. Wouldn't have cost her anything to be polite.

Are you sure she didn't misjudge how she was trying to squeeze through and bumped into it and pushed it when bumping?

You were not paying attention as you said. Maybe you should have.

Well, I'm going to more or less stand alone here and say that I think she was unreasonable.

Before you take it upon yourself to move something that is with someone (a pram, pushchair, trolley, etc) you get their attention and you say excuse me. If they don't move it, then you move it. I think it is rude to not ask someone to move first.

Tis the season to be jolly indeed... Everyone gets so ridiculously stressed over nothing. All she had to do was A) say excuse me, if you didn't hear her then plan B) say excuse me even louder, again if you didn't hear gently tap you on the shoulder and politely say excuse me.

I don't even move other people's trollies, certainly wouldn't touch anyone else's pram. Yanbu, she was rude.

I think it was rude of her to push your pram and I would have been annoyed too. The baby and pram are not baggage! People should have manners ..she ( or the till keeper) should have asked you to move it until you heard her.

Tbh I wouldn't even move someone's bags ,let alone their baby.

I think you need to pay more attention to where you leave your pram, especially if you don't like people to bump or move it.

But more importantly I think you need to let this go. This happened a few days ago, it's barely worth mentioning if it happened 10 mins ago.

I wouldn't ever move someone else's pram but I find if you say excuse me, most mothers seem really reluctant to move and quite affronted that you dare ask them to move their child out of the way!

I asked one woman once, she tutted loudly at me despite me being polite and nice when I asked her.

Another snooty cow woman looked at me in a condescending way, refused to move her pram and told me ''I'm sure you can squeeze through."

Oh ffs, YANBU. Everyone just needs to be courteous to everyone else and then life goes more smoothly. Prams are big bulky objects and wherever you put them they are going to be in someone's way. She could have just said "excuse me, would you mind moving your pram?" and you'd have smiled and said, "Oh, I'm sorry, of course" and then everything would have been fine.

Also, what is it with people who make comments like "I think pushed sounds a bit forceful, I'm sure she just moved it slightly so she could use the till." How can you possibly know unless you were actually there?

It would've annoyed me too. A simple, "excuse me would you mind moving the pram please?" would've been much simpler and less rude. Plus I would hate anyone touching my child's pram/pushchair, I wouldn't dream of doing that to a complete stranger.
