AIBU to be horrified by the new Porn Law?

AIBU to be really disturbed by the new porn law? If anyone hasn't seen it, they've banned a whole load of relatively common sexual practices from being shown in porn filmed in the UK.

There's a really good list/explanation here:www.aftmagazine.com/learn/porn-laws-illegal-fantasy/

AIBU to think that there's nothing wrong with showing a bit of spanking in a porn film? I feel like the UK government should be focussing on improving public transport and fixing the economy, not trying to nose into what we're doing in our bedrooms?!

And what on earth is wrong with squirting? I notice there's no ban on sperm flying around the place!

I feel like this rather unfairly boosts the stereotype of us Brits being all sexually repressive. Maybe they'll end up banning boinking entirely! Although that'd admittedly save a lot of awkwardness and do away with having to change the sheets so often.

Have any of you gazed down at a newborn baby girl and thought "I hope that when she grows up she'll have the right to get fisted in a porn video. And, if she's really lucky, we'll live in a world where she can then be filmed urinating".

You haven't?

Alyosha · 04/12/2014 13:04

How mean of us to care about women's welfare! So uptight to think women shouldn't be coerced (physically, mentally, economically) into sex acts they have no desire to take part in. How dare we question's men's human right to masturbate over whatever they want?!

DoraGora · 04/12/2014 13:15

I can't understand any form of Don't ban in the UK what isn't banned in Patagonia, argument. That's not how the law works.

sashh · 04/12/2014 13:56

OP

Spanking is allowed, spanking that causes redness is allowed, spanking that causes bruising or cuts isn't.

Lets face it people watch porn not just to get off, but to get ideas so it seems sensible that if you want some ideas for your first BDSM with your partner then porn made in Britain can give you ideas that do not include unsafe practise.

Yes other stuff will be imported, but that is not an argument to have hear.

Most young people watch or have watched porn, do a couple of teenagers know what a safe word or signal is? It seems like a good idea to incorporate it in to porn.

DoraGora · 04/12/2014 14:01

Porn isn't educational. Pornographers aren't didacts, either. I would keep learning and porn (of any type) as far apart as possible.

icecreamcone12 · 04/12/2014 14:10

How mean of us to care about women's welfare! So uptight to think women shouldn't be coerced (physically, mentally, economically)

it's not mean, it's great. But don't paint the other side as people who disagree with that. nobody should be physically coerced into anything. I am not sure what you mean by mental coercion (blackmail?), but as many have pointed out we are all economically coerced into doing things we don't like, and in some cases rather dangerous or poorly paid things. So, while economic coercion isn't great, it isn't unique to this industry.

How dare we question's men's human right to masturbate over whatever they want?!

that's not what people are questioning. People are questioning whether it is right and practical to stop a consensual and regulated transaction. anything that involves physical coercion should be stopped.

FloraFox · 04/12/2014 14:47

So, while economic coercion isn't great, it isn't unique to this industry.

No but fisting, bodily penetration and being urinated on are unique to this industry.

Alyosha · 04/12/2014 14:51

Exactly Florafox - sex is different from any other job and should be treated as such.

Birdsgottafly · 04/12/2014 15:06

""How mean of us to care about women's welfare! So uptight to think women shouldn't be coerced (physically, mentally, economically)""

I'm Vegan and only buy Fair Trade Cocoa Beans because I care about world wide Human and Animal Cruelity.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the point is (and there are many on line debates about this) that this Typevof Porn will be made and sold outside the UK.

So rather than tighten up Safeguards, make Porn pay the wage it should, enable people to buy Ethical Porn of any type (rather than watch free abuse online) we have introduced a ban in our country, in which we could of made a massive change in Ethical Standards, which would of paved the way for change elsewhere.

""Have any of you gazed down at a newborn baby girl and thought "I hope that when she grows up she'll have the right to get fisted in a porn video. And, if she's really lucky, we'll live in a world where she can then be filmed urinating". ""

I hope that one day the world is set up to see an adult woman as the keeper of her own sexuality, and free to behave without judgement in legal acts. I hope that the law hasn't forced her out of her own country to be who she wants to be.

Birdsgottafly · 04/12/2014 15:12

And as I mentioned earlier, can we move away from the shite "men to wank over" line, we are discussing Fetish stuff, this has an equal following, which I have some experience of as a bi sexual female.

GratefulHead · 04/12/2014 15:14

Was discussing this law change with a friend today. He is a photographer and in the past was a camera man for porn movies.
He got out because he didn't like the way the industry was heading. He felt the images being shown were not realistic or helpful. He is horrified by the easy availability of porn to children/teenagers who are seeing what he describes as unreal images.
He has. Even quite vocal however about the law change as he thinks money and energy would be better spent in educating society at large, and especially young people about the risks of porn. He has no problem with porn as such, but just thinks like everything else it comes with inherent risk and that his is where the focus should be. The BDSM community are very vocal about safe, sane and consensual acts wih clear definitions of a use

FloraFox · 04/12/2014 15:28

I hope that the law hasn't forced her out of her own country to be who she wants to be.

What a load of nonsense.

And as I mentioned earlier, can we move away from the shite "men to wank over" line

Sorry, no, we can't close our eyes to the realities of the porn industry to spare your feelings for your sexy pretend abuse.

DoraGora · 04/12/2014 17:08

grateful educating society at large? about porn? That can't be right, surely. We have all kinds of sex education issues and live in a repressed society generally. But, I can see relationship education in secondary schools, civic education and biology being far more important that porn education. Porn is a perversion of sex. Porn education would be rather akin to having guitar smashing lessons in music classes.

ButternutSquish · 04/12/2014 17:11

Ok, reading through the list...all the things that have been banned seem fairly reasonable to me. I wouldn't say I was completely vanilla.

Squirting is allowed, as long as it's not on someone else and then consumed. Fisting is allowed, as long as it's not more than 5 fingers and past the last knuckle. Bondage is allowed, as long as there is a clear way for the submissive to give a 'stop' signal....etc

They're not saying 100% no to these and other things, just some things with a bit a caution.

I think you're implying that most different types of sexual acts have been banned in porn, but you are wrong.

elephantspoo · 04/12/2014 18:47

So, if it is coercion when a woman par takes in consensual sex acts in order to put food on her table, the coersing force is the pornographer, and he should be legislated against; why when the state is the acting factor in putting a woman in a position where she feels she has to partake in sex acts in order to put food on her table, are those working for the coersing agencies not legislated against and prosecuted accordingly? Or is this good old British hypocrisy?

icecreamcone12 · 04/12/2014 20:19

Sorry, no, we can't close our eyes to the realities of the porn industry to spare your feelings for your sexy pretend abuse.

Are you saying she is engaged in "sexy pretend abuse" and that shouldn't be allowed? or she should not be allowed to film and sell it?

WineWineWine · 04/12/2014 22:09

For those of you who disapprove of porn, do you see ALL porn as harmful?
Is there such a thing as consensual pornography?
What if a couple make their own?

FloraFox · 04/12/2014 22:16

ice the latter

milkyjo80 · 04/12/2014 22:52

All of the female performers that I have met worked in this industry because they really enjoyed, even the ones doing spanking films.

icecreamcone12 · 05/12/2014 13:44

ice the latter

it sounds like she is happy to participate in such filming, so I am not sure why you would object on the basis "realities of the porn industry". In this case, we would have a willing participant.

It seems there are at least two positions one can take. The first is that one objects to the whole industry on principle (so one would object to the industry even if it was perfectly run). The second is that the industry in principle is fine, but is rife with so many problems.

It sounds like you must be in the former camp, because you even object when participants are known to do it of their free will. Otherwise, I would say tackle the problems that are in the industry, and blanket bans on an odd list of activities won't do that.

FloraFox · 05/12/2014 15:06

There are broader issues relating to porn than whether one individual wants to be in it.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 05/12/2014 18:04

Great article here about how it affects the people actually involved

FloraFox · 05/12/2014 19:17

The people "actually involved" include the people watching it and the people affected by the behaviour of the people watching it.

tiddz23 · 12/12/2014 23:52

As long as its consenting anything goes. Maybe specialist .. and I'm not saying that my love life would fall into that category .... for example

golden shower attempt would result in the inability to utilise said equipment for a week
fisting. .. only time I've come close is a placenta removal

Just google... man killed by woman sitting on face. ... nothing there . Only one about a woman Trying to motorboat her hubby to death.. I think that had intent anyway. 0 fatalities . Perhaps if they had experienced said position they would know a good wife always allows her husbands nose a little room.

conservatives turn to prudists? Its just silly ladies.. and gents?

If you have children using the Internet. .. use parental settings and have them in the family rooms when using it. No children's site imo is safe which allows interaction with other users

Its our bodies we use .. we can use them in anyway we deem fit.... whatever floats your boat ... but I'll be damned if I'm going to let (wheres the quote coming from or there abouts?) Some Ageing balding middle class twit ....tell us how to get it on

hotsouple · 30/03/2017 22:58

Boo hoo Snuff Films will be getting a little less snuffy. It's a bummer I'll never cum again! /s Everyone's boners are sad and that's more important than the physical/mental health and safety of those involved and those who watch it (particularly young men. My sex life was fucked up as a teen because of the things Porn normalized.) YABU.
