Mooycow · 24/10/2014 09:39

Yesterday for lunch DH did beans on toast.
I had 1 slice with beans on and an extra slice on the side, he had 2 slices with beans on and an extra slice, no probs
When I went out to clean up in the kitchen looked like a bomb had gone off i noticed he had used 2 tins of beans ?
So aibu as I only got a small amount of beans 1/2 tin at most, so even with my bad maths he got a tin and a half ???
AIBU?

Maybe he was very hungry?

YABU, since you didn't think your amount was too small until you realised he'd had more.

Mammanat222 · 24/10/2014 09:42

He also had more bread as well.

Bad DH.

Theas18 · 24/10/2014 09:42

LOL

YANBU that the " kitchen looked like a bomb had gone off" when you'd only had beans on toast.

YABU to moan about portion size if you didn't say " oi you have tons of beans and I only have 6 hand some over " at the time"

We abide by the childhood rule of " he shares it out and I choose " or vice versa I recommend it to you in future.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 24/10/2014 09:43

Hard to answer such an important questionHmm

Mascaramascara1 · 24/10/2014 09:45

Seems a bit of an uneven split...but, going with generalities, if he's bigger than you then you shouldn't be eating equal portions anyway really.

DH probably eats half as much as me again because he's a foot taller and 8 stone heavier than me. I would be seriously obese if we ate the same!

Boomtownsurprise · 24/10/2014 09:45

He had a tin and a half of beans on his plate. You didn't notice at the time?

Do you always hold your opinion in this way?

NewEraNewMindset · 24/10/2014 09:46

What? I honestly can't fathom what you are moaning about. If you want more food go and open your fridge and eat something else.

whois · 24/10/2014 09:46

Did you have enough to eat?

If I do beans on toast for DH and me, he has an extra slice so he gets a little bit more of the beans. Not 59% more tho.

whois · 24/10/2014 09:47
  1. Not 59
AmserGwin · 24/10/2014 09:48

Here have a Biscuit to fill you up

fredfredgeorgejnr · 24/10/2014 10:31

A sedentary 60kg woman, maybe 1200 calories a day, an active 90kg man, maybe 3500 calories a day, so he should have lots more than you!

YABU.

Of course if he's a lazy arse sat on the sofa all day, and you're out doing your daily marathon, then it's the other way around...

avocadotoast · 24/10/2014 10:46

A tin and a half of beans?! Who has room for that many beans?

BeggingYourPardon · 24/10/2014 10:50

After a tin and a half of beans I'd be more worried about what is going to be blowing out of his arse in the next hour to be honest.

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 24/10/2014 11:05

If you had enough beans, I don't see what you are complaining about other than him making the kitchen look like a bombsite while making beans on toast.

If you want more beans, you need to say something. I expect that he ate all the beans that you didn't 'because they were there', ie, he could have been equally happy if you had had 3/4 tin and he had 1 1/4?

It's not like beans are expensive and his massive pile of beans on toast is going to mean that you run out of food later in the week is it?

squoosh · 24/10/2014 11:08

I will expect to hear this issue raised at PM's questions. It's a scandal and an outrage and should not be tolerated in civilized society.

susiedaisy · 24/10/2014 11:10

I think this is one of those situations where you had to be there to make an informed decision Wink

If I'm doing beans on toast I always have 2 pieces bread and a whole tin of beans. Hth

R4roger · 24/10/2014 11:11

i share a tin of beans out with only a couple for me

R4roger · 24/10/2014 11:12

and do you actually have them on the toast, or next to?? well?

FishWithABicycle · 24/10/2014 11:13

It's beans on toast. Unless you are using a foodbank and have no money at all, just cook more beans. When we have beans on toast quantities are unlimited for everyone, you stop when you're full.

limitedperiodonly · 24/10/2014 11:13

I don't like loads of beans on my toast. It makes it too soggy. I like just enough to cover the slice with a small margin of crispy crust round the edge.

I used to carry a retractable steel tape measure for this purpose, but these days I can usually judge it by eye.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 24/10/2014 11:15

Does this really warrant an AIBU? Grin

Is this a first world problem or what?

cherrybombxo · 24/10/2014 11:15

When I make beans on toast for myself I only use one of the little 200g tins so yes, YABU. He needs more food than you do and maybe he should have asked, "how hungry are you? Will half a tin do you?" before he shared it out but you were happy with your portion before you noticed that he had more.

So there. Grin

SavoyCabbage · 24/10/2014 11:18

I would say half a tin of beans is barely enough for an adult male. I'm guessing you had 2/3 of a tin and he had a whole tin and 1/3.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 24/10/2014 11:45

A tin and a half of baked beans? I would recommend keeping him well away from all naked flames!

SauvignonBlanche · 24/10/2014 11:56

Leave the bastard?
