People who text and ask you to call them?

It's just occurred to me that one friend in particular ALWAYS texts me "Are you busy? Like a chat? Call me."

Confused

Why not ask "Can I call you?"

She can't be THAT tight that she wouldn't pick up her landline and ring me! She earns way more than me.

I have this afternoon ignored one of these texts as I feel irrationally angry that for literally years, I've called her....instead of her calling me now and then! AIBU?

Exfriend used to do this, (ask me to call her back). She also would ask about how many free mins I had on my mobile (if I tried to make a short conversation). She was most confused that I'd rather save some for family / other friends / general stuff. Ex friend. (Other freeloading activities over a few years).

I don't have an answerphone on my landline so occasionally people text me if they can't get me on that. But YDNBU OP

Surely sometimes it just means 'I'd like to talk to you but don't want to interrupt if you are currently busy.' Which I would consider more polite than calling, if you don't know what someone's schedule might be.
I certainly do it - 'hi, can you call me when you have a minute? Need a chat' or whatever.

Actually (just to make you all feel guilty and awkward) I remember doing this the day my father died. I was out of town, my DS' dad was looking after (then 6 year old) DS so I texted DS' Dad something like, can you call me back when DS is comfortably occupied? I wanted to let DS dad know what had happened but for DS himself not to know until I could tell him myself.

I'm the opposite to you OP. I hate it when people call me. I wish they would just text me instead.
If they text me and I want to speak to them I'll make the call, otherwise I'll just reply by text and they can tell me whatever it was they wanted to tell me that way.
