FFS! Why does my mind/body do this to me?

Really got to do something about my weight, its getting absurd.

Had serious word with myself last night and made a plan - the kind of food I'm going to eat, the exercise I'm going to do, the time frame etc.

So, now, Day 1 of Mintyy's new healthy eating regime and all I can think of after 6 hours is CORNISH FUCKING PASTIES!

Hot ones. Hot and steamy ones served with a dollop of brown sauce and a lovely cup of tea.

But I haven't craved a cornish pasty for YEARS, so why today of all days? Why is this happening

Watch Secret Eaters on Ch4. You'll never want to eat junk again after watching the people on it pigging out! It definitely strengthened my resolve to eat well.

Mintyy · 10/10/2014 13:26

Secret Eaters huh?

This Cornish Pasty thing is annoying cos I don't usually eat food like that at all!

It's probably because you've 'banned' this type of food to yourself, now it's become desirable.

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 10/10/2014 13:38

Yep, LadyLuck is tight, as soon as you "can't" have it, it's all you want. I did the opposite, I didn't let myself start my "get healthy" regime for a month after I decided to, and a year later, it has stuck! Goo luck with it.

Mintyy · 10/10/2014 13:43

Annoying isn't it? I'm sure this is why diets don't work - or don't work for me at any rate.

But then there's this pesky extra 2.5 stone that I hate with a passion! Gah.

Arggh! Really fancy a pasty now op....thanks Angry

Who starts a diet on a Friday a Monday is better. Weekend = wine

I think I'd be good on an episode of Secret Eaters - meals are all nice and healthy, but what's that, 3 biscuits with a cup of tea ooops! Handful of haribo oh dear. Hot chocolate while waiting for the kids at swimming? Yep.

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 10/10/2014 13:49

Can you start with increasing your exercise and getting fitter before changing your diet? The endorphins and feeling like you're taking charge might help you naturally start eating better...

LoisWilkerson1 · 10/10/2014 13:50

What type of wine goes well with a pasty.....hmmmmGrin

moxon · 10/10/2014 13:51

Sounds reasonable.

dixiepoos · 10/10/2014 13:52

Horrible isn't it... whenever I get within temptation's reach I think "would you rather have 2 minutes of pleasure eating that or a whole life being a fat cow".

Well, it works most of the time. Hmm

LoisWilkerson1 · 10/10/2014 13:57

I just try not to buy crap but then the whole house suffers because I have no self control! Its so frustrating.

FullOfChoc · 10/10/2014 14:06

Why not have a cornish pasty with a big salad for your tea? Most supermarket pastys are about 500 calories so not off limits and fairly filling.

BlinkAndMiss · 10/10/2014 14:09

I know where you're coming from, I'm no help - my 'healthy eating' day started with a packet of giant chocolate buttons, just because they were there. I have no self control, it's embarrassing really and I hide it. Unfortunately my weight gives my secret away.

fluffyraggies · 10/10/2014 16:18

Oh don't - it's the bane of my life at the moment i tell you :(

I keep going to bed so pissed off with myself for fucking up the diet AGAIN. and AGAIN.

I need a few good days under my belt and then i'm ok usually. It's because there's something to build on then. Something to not spoil.

I KNOW low carb works for me and it works well.

I think it makes a big difference where abouts in your cycle you start. For me it's got to be just after my period - when my hunger level isat its lowest for the month.

fluffyraggies · 10/10/2014 16:21

I had a good day yesterday. I have had a good day today so far. If i'm going to fuck up it's usually mid morning for some reason.

I'm trying to shift baby weight. DD is 8 months old. I need to loose about one and a half to two stone. It's been dragging on and on. I could have it done by the end of the year if i could only stick to it as well!

Golightly133 · 10/10/2014 16:25

Wow i thought it was just me who did this had actually made me feel better reading this Smile

amyhamster · 10/10/2014 16:29

Beer or lager goes well with a Cornish pasty

Seriouslyffs · 10/10/2014 16:33

Aaaargh it's madness, isn't it? I eat badly all the time and the self loathing is ridiculous. I've been googling bonkers juice diets today and eating crap. Sad

TattyDevine · 10/10/2014 16:34

This might sound daft but can you satisfy the craving with an healthy alternative, or not as bad one? For instance, if I was seriously craving a pasty, I'd go to the supermarket, get some nice lean steak, blade mace, swede and potato, and filo pastry (the papery not too bad for you one). Finely chop the steak, toss it around in a pan with the cubed potato and swede and spice, pile it in a few sheets of filo and bake it in the oven. A low fat lowish carb (if you don't use too much potato and swede) tasty diet pasty.

Presumably you have a job and/or a life and don't have time to twat about doing things like this though? Grin

TattyDevine · 10/10/2014 16:35

That last comment was self-depreciating towards myself btw in case I sounded stepford

Mintyy · 10/10/2014 16:38

Grin Tatty!

No, it was ok, I ignored it and the craving passed. Frustrating thing is I would never ever think about Cornish pasties normally.

Salmon for dinner loads of vegetables and an alcohol-free evening out to look forward to. Such fun!

If you do need to do the Cornish pasty thing, I forgot the onion! Make sure it has onion! Grin
