To hand our soft play entry code to a couple with kids as we left?

DP wasn't impressed.

Should I not have given it to them?

HighwayDragon · 28/09/2014 14:17

Huh?

WorraLiberty · 28/09/2014 14:19

What is a soft play entry code?

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 28/09/2014 14:24

Nope you have lost me...

WanderingTrolley1 · 28/09/2014 14:25

At the swimming centre, there's a separate indoor play area with slides, climbing frames, etc. A code is needed to enter, so I handed the slip over to a couple so they wouldn't have to pay to enter.

Fluffyears · 28/09/2014 14:26

I think that's nice and kind. Hope they pay it forward in some way.

bustraintram · 28/09/2014 14:26

I presume the code is for re entry into a soft play without having to pay again if you go out and come back. Passing on such a code defeats the object of the system and means that the play centre may have to stop fe reentry. It's stealing from the play centre.

If the above is correct, YABVU, you have paid for your child(ren) to enter the play centre for as long as they want, not to pass itnon

HermioneWeasley · 28/09/2014 14:28

Erm, it's theft. YABU

BoomBoomsCousin · 28/09/2014 14:28

It's dishonest. If lots of people do it it will mean prices go up. So YABU, but I can't get too outraged over it.

elvenbread · 28/09/2014 14:28

It will shut down surely if lots of people did this. I think it's different with a parking ticket or something like that as car parks don't presumably need lots of money spent on maintenance, cleaning, light, heat, new equipment, large staffing numbers etc.

Greythorne · 28/09/2014 14:32

Why would you do that?
You are cheating the system.
If everyone does this, the play centre would go out of business.

Odd.

WorraLiberty · 28/09/2014 14:33

I can't get fussed about things like this

I would have done it too OP and so would most of the people I know in RL

Mumsnet however, seems to be a parallel universe Grin

Igotafreegoattoo · 28/09/2014 14:33

YANBU, it's the same as passing parking tickets to the next person

HighwayDragon · 28/09/2014 14:46

Huh?

SirChenjin · 28/09/2014 14:55

More info needed - this is too much of a biggie [grin

So - had your DCs already played in the soft play? Was there still time left on the ticket? Does the soft play not have a system in place to stop the reusing of codes?

Janethegirl · 28/09/2014 15:13

YANBU same as parking tickets

ilovechristmas1 · 28/09/2014 15:20

oh for gods sake some really like to play the moral high ground on here

it was a kind thing to do op and myself would of thought you were being kind

makes me still think there are thougtful people about

im sure the family were very grateful, maybe that meant the the kids could get a treat with the money they saved

WanderingTrolley1 · 28/09/2014 15:23

There's no timer on ticket. You can leave and re-enter as you wish with your code (as I needed to and did with 2 DC in nappies).

We left once toddler had had enough.

OP posts:
ilovechristmas1 · 28/09/2014 15:28

op you do know you are going to hell now Grin

SirChenjin · 28/09/2014 15:43

If there is no time on the ticket then I would have done what you did - and I would have been very grateful to anyone who'd given me their code, and as ilove said I would have spent more money in their cafe as a result. It's like parking tickets - nothing better when someone gives you their ticket which still has a couple of hours on it, and I do the same for other shoppers.

If the soft play are concerned about the reusing of codes then they need to put a recording system in place.

SirChenjin · 28/09/2014 15:44

Oh, and yeah - you're going to hell now. I'll see you there Grin

KnackeredMuchly · 28/09/2014 15:47

Yabu. Different to a parking ticket as you pay for 2 hours - so I feel I am owed 2 hours. You used a reasonable amount, they should buy their own entry.

If you'd not used that part, or had to leave after 5 mins I'd probably pass it on.

Branleuse · 28/09/2014 15:54

its no big deal. nobody cares

livsmommy · 28/09/2014 16:17

How is it theft, what did the OP steal exactly? I would've done it to and been very grateful if somebody had passed to me, some people are ridiculous.

AlwaysLurking38 · 28/09/2014 17:48

YANBU it was a nice thing to do

specialsubject · 28/09/2014 17:53

this is theft from a business. It is like shoplifting.

I imagine the person trying to feed their family from the business might care. As would those who would lose their jobs if the business keeps getting defrauded and goes bust.

still think this is a nice thing to do and no morals are involved? Happy to work for nothing, are we?

may everyone get what they deserve.
