To think this is mean? (vomit related)

A family member's DC13 was sitting in the bathroom feeling sick, and her mum went to see if she was ok and asked her if she thought she'd eaten anything bad. Reasonable ywah, but then she told DC to think about whatever caused it or something else ickie, so she felt worse and it made her sick. Not the first time she's done it either apparently!! Hmm Hmm Is that helpful or is it mean?

Ywah? What's that? Your post doesn't make sense.

WooWooOwl · 27/09/2014 18:34

Helpful. When you need to be sick, it's horrible when it won't come up and you often feel better afterwards.

RachelWatts · 27/09/2014 18:36

Well if I feel sick, I usually feel loads better after I've actually been sick. If it's from eating something bad I think it's helpful to get rid of it as soon as possible.

I'm not emetophobic though. If I was I imagine it would be rather mean.

AdmitYouKnowImRight · 27/09/2014 18:36

Better out than in. Vomit is the boys way of cleansing its self of something toxic to it or poisonous. Eg bugs or dodgy prawns

KnackeredMuchly · 27/09/2014 18:37

Yabu as the others say

Outdooooors · 27/09/2014 18:41

Ywah - yeah! Typo Blush And she's not emetophobic but she doesn't like getting sick obviously.

would you want to think of something like that when you felt ill? I'd feel worse I think she did improve after though

fuzzpig · 27/09/2014 19:03

I'm amazed just thinking about that would actually make you sick. That said I do have a pretty strong stomach so am rarely sick anyway.

I have been known to glug slightly warm water to make myself sick once - I knew it was imminent and couldn't stand the waiting.

TeracottaTurtle · 27/09/2014 19:06

There's nothing worse than just constantly feeling sick. Once you've vomited the feeling usually subsides and you feel better for a bit.

I just stick my fingers down my throat and get it out but not everyone can. If dh is feeling sick he leans over the toilet and thinks about licking the toilet rim, which usually does the job.

YABU, it's not mean. Better out than in.

VanitasVanitatum · 27/09/2014 19:07

As you said, she felt better after!

IgnoreMeEveryOtherFuckerDoes · 27/09/2014 19:08

I used to hate that feeling of wanting/needing to be sick and always felt immediately better after I was. I used to rub DD back as that used to help her throw up whilst she had her face in toilet.

CatKisser · 27/09/2014 19:08

I don't think it's mean.
If you're going to puke it's far better getting out the way. I don't get sick bugs due to my terrible hygiene levels building me up an incredible immunity (Ha!) but when I was a child I remember the worst part of sickness was the interminable waiting, with nausea rolling in my stomach.

lacksdirection · 27/09/2014 19:10

I always think of something nauseating to make me sick as soon as possible rather than the awful panic of hanging over the toilet swallowing and panting and wishing the nausea would pass.
It all depends on how sure I am that I will actually be sick eventually rather than hoping it might just pass with deep breathing.

I don't see how your friend IBU.

Can you explain why you think your friend IBU OP?

picnicbasketcase · 27/09/2014 19:11

I do the same thing as Terracotta's DH - always works. Vile but effective.

youbethemummylion · 27/09/2014 19:11

I always try and make myself sick if I feel like I need to be sick and always feel better afterwards. Don't think it was mean it was actually quite helpful

Outdooooors · 27/09/2014 19:18

Lacksdirection - it just seemed a bit mean to do something that looked like it was making her feel worse, but apparently IABslightlyU. Smile

If i need to be sick but cant be sick i stick my head down the toilet and sniff. usually solves the problem.

londonrach · 27/09/2014 20:07

Tbh its better to get it out. Feeling sick but not being is awful. Hope your dd got it out as she feel better afterwards..

pluCaChange · 27/09/2014 21:48

Does no-one else stick a finger down the throat anymore? Blush

beavington · 27/09/2014 21:52

I only have to feel nauseous for 5 mins or so and go and stick my fingers down my throat. Cant stand the feeling of nausea.

PersonOfInterest · 27/09/2014 21:59

Has anyone else had their glasses fall down the toilet into the sick?

pluCaChange · 27/09/2014 22:02

Solidarity!

Grin
HoneyTits · 27/09/2014 22:31

I also think about licking the porcelain part of the toilet just under the seat or stick my fingers down my throat.

I don't think it was mean.
