Extreme couponing

$1,200 worth of stuff for $103, complete madness, or not? I'm sat here open mouthed, 60 odd bottles of mustard and her husband doesn't like it.

That's nothing. I have seen bills reduced to virtually zero.

But I don't understand how people actually store all that stuff. It must take them years to use them and by then they will be fossilized.

I think I'd give most stuff away to relatives, friends or charities, anyway.

It would be good to do it and then barter with other couponers. You could do it in a kind of club structure and all save a fortune.

Yup. They do it. I saw it once.

wouldnt it be good if someone like me who has cats but no baby children could do swappsies so the person with the baby could get nappies and kiddy stuff for virtually nothing and i could reduce my cat food bill ideal, would also work with other swaps to suit different set ups we could do coupon swap clubs

I met an extreme coupon-er that was on the show, she was at a couponing seminar teaching people how to coupon. The stuff all goes to charity after the cameras stop rolling, they have trucks in the back that take the items and haul them off. Those shows aren't going for practicality they're just going for the dollar saving shock value.

The way you really coupon is to get things in bulk and save them. Since things like noodles and sauce, peanut butter and jelly, etc.. go on sale at different times, its how they get you to spend more money. You just save them for when the other item you need goes on sale.

Really, though, I don't see the point. I'm not buying jelly and waiting 3 weeks to save $2 so I can have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Some people do fit this lifestyle but, the stuff that goes on sale is crap. You need fresh produce to stay healthy, not canned and boxed crap.

Ooooo finally I get to admit I did this once as an 8 week experiment I was a soccer mom, bored out of my brain and my neighbour noticed I was a bit frugal shall we say?
She introduced the idea to me and I investigated it over many months. Things I learnt (not seen the program so could be teaching you to suck eggs)
Double and triple coupons where a store will match the coupon, I found they rarely did this is it was over a $ so a 25 c coupon would be doubled or trebled but a $ one would not.
it is a full time job, took me hours calculating the saving by shop, so apple juice cost 79c in A shop $1 in the next shop but a 25c coupon but you need to buy 3, do I need 3? but if I buy the store brand in shop A is only 60c, is the branded one better?
Then you realise the coupon is for a size you have never seen before, they have it in store C but they charge 30c more unless you buy 6 in which case they charge 80c per item but the coupon is only good for 3 of the apple juices
It really isn't worth the hassle IMHO but it did improve my math Grin
