To really hate OBEM USA?

Don't get me wrong, beautiful safe deliveries. Wonderful.

I had OBEM set up to series record and now I see my magic box thing has recorded the USA series too.

How different can labour and delivery be in two developed countries? All I seem to see is women on their backs, epidurals, "you can't deliver without your OBGYN" it seems so... So... Well, medical I guess. I dislike it. All I see is drips and close monitoring and beds.

Why???

Please tell me I'm not alone?

With DD (in the aforementioned little town) they asked if I wanted an epidural before I needed one as they share an anesthesiologist with the whole area and said she might be 45 mins away if I waited. It was said in a completely neutral tone. I did want one, but if I'd said no they would have been fine with that as well.

Where are all these dirty NHS hospitals? Our local ones are spotless. I've had 3DC and had a 3 day stay in 2 different hospitals for DD1 (moved for the 1:1 BFing support at the local MLU) a 6h discharge for DD2 (breakfast at home, DD2 born at lunchtime, home for dinner, no hospital overnight stay, bliss. Who wouldn't want to at least try to achieve that rather than be forced into a longer hospital stay away from your older children because of unnecessary interventions), a 9 day stay for preemie DS (fantastic care across 2 different wards and who cares if I'd met the paeds or MWs before, they were all lovely).

I agree games. Every hospital I've been in has been spotless. I got quite irritated at the woman cleaning the postnatal ward I was on. The Woman never bloody stopped cleaning. Backwards and forwards, various implements.
