Nursery fed 11mo DS coco pops

Just collected DS from nursery.
This is his week and he seems to be settling in ok, is harder for me than him I think!!
However I am not very happy with the food they have been feeding him. He has a daily book which tells me his food for day etc, and he had coco pops for breakfast!
I would never feed him that at home! AIBU? Should I say something or wait to see if this continues?

I would say something if I was uncomfortable with what anyone fed DD. do they know what you expect him to eat?

I would say something! I don't know why they need something like this in a baby room.

YANBU for being unhappy about this- you need to let them know as he will get a taste for them.

Porridge, whole grain cereal, toast, egg etc.
I wouldn't expect a baby to eat coco pops. Surely as a nursery they should provide healthier food?

whats the matter with coco pops its breakfast cereal, one meal won't hurt as long as everything else is up to standard

I wouldn't expect a nursery to feed a baby coco pops.

At the nursery my 9 month old goes to babies have weetabix or porridge. In the older groups they can have porridge, weetabix, shreddies etc but not chocolate cereal.

I'd speak to them and let them know what you want him to have.

DD is 8 months old and I wouldn't be happy if she was at nursery she isn't and she was given that sort of food (coco pops).

Yeah id expect Weetabix, porridge, muesli etc for a child his age & that is what he eats at home.
I'm shocked they have chocolate cereals etc. will talk to them tomorrow as not happy.

I'd be disappointed. I'm not even that picky about food but they are young, at that age I'd expect what everyone else says - porridge, weetabix, shreddies, toast. I'd ask to see their menus again.

There certainly was no coco pops on the menu!!
I know the head chef is away for a couple weeks so maybe that could be why.....

Did you not check the kind of food they serve before choosing this nursery? Were you expecting porridge and brown toast, or did you not ask?

Our nursery offers Cornflakes, Weetabix and Rice Krispies. All at the healthier end of the spectrum. I think the babies get porridge too. That's for all ages up until school. Coco Pops is not healthy for a baby and it unlikely it is a one off.

Is reminds me of a very amusing post doing the rounds on Facebook about what the first child is fed/taught how they are parented.

And how the second child is fed/taught and parented.

And how the third child is just ferral.

It's tongue in cheek, natch but there's an eliment of truth it in. With my first child Id have wondered if it was appropriate. With my second Id have been grateful they even had ceral to feed him.

Does an 11 month old baby even eat Muslie? Was his first taste of food an olive?

Yep u can buy baby muesli.
The rest of his meals match the menu which I did check b4 hand, was just surprised to see coco pops had been eaten for lunch and wanted advice to kno if I was right to be a bit taken back by it.

I am not sure any nursery provides eggs for breakfast surely?

I would be really cross about that OP. Ignore the snidey PFB comments, here's absolutely no reason for a baby to have that for breakfast, and I would expect a nursery to be on board with that.

Oh that really expensive boxed baby powder Muslie? I very much doubt the nursery would be paying out for boxes of those.

I wouldn't be happy with a nursery that thought coco pops was a suitable breakfast for a baby that isn't even a year old.

I love coco pops myself, but they may as well have just fed him a bar of chocolate with a milkshake as a meal. Just because it comes under the heading of 'breakfast cereal', doesn't make it a decent breakfast. It isn't.
